'02 SOLARA SE FOR $14,900?

Postby ron111 » Sat Feb 22, 2003 3:18 am

HI, I just thought I would check in as a soon-to-be owner of a pre-owned Solara. I'd like to get your thoughts on a '02 Solara SE (no moonroof, no leather) being sold for $14.900 at a Honda dealer here in California. It's very clean inside and clean under the hood too. Just some road rock tiny dings in the front bumper. It was owned by one person BUT it has 30K MILES on it after just one year. That's probably the reason it's being solder at a lower price. What do you think?

It sounds fine to me! Being the proud owner of a used 99. I got mine 03/2002 w/10.7k Not as many miles as the one your looking to buy. If you do buy it bring it to a Toyota dealership and have them do one of the major service tune-ups on it. Tell them you just bought it and they'll go over the whole car for you. Good luck and c'mon back to Solara Guy after you buy the car. :)

Sounds like a good deal to me. Is it a 4cyl or 6. Either way high miles in the first year isn't so bad. You know that they were highway miles :D

I have 80K on my 2000, bought it new, still runs great. I would say those are all highway miles. Is it a 4cyl or 6? If it is the 4, I would say the price is about right. O yeah, Solara's have great seats for long drives :).
Let's just pretend I didn't grow up, or you're going to be terribly disappointed.

Followup on the $14,900 Solara

Postby ron111 » Tue Feb 25, 2003 11:43 pm

Hey guys I did wind up getting the '02 Solara on Sunday, 2/23 from a San Diego Honda dealer. I don't regret it one bit! It still feels like a dream every time I get in it. Considering the average price for a one-year old Solara is about $17,000, I think I got lucky. I'm also told that many times when a dealer has a car on their lot that's of a different brand, they like to sell them at a lower than normal price and get them off the lot. In this case is was in used car department of a San Diego Honda Dealer.

I will take the advice of the person who suggested taking it to Toyota and have them go over it while it's still under warranty. Thanks!

To the other guy who asked whether it was a 4 or the V6, it is the V6!

I also have the same car! I got it in August 02, and it now has 13000 miles on it!

It sounds like a great buy! Just go test drive a new one then test drive that one, and if it feels good, get it :D
