Simple Question
S/C Vs Turbo? Opinions?
Also, I see that the 1mz s/c kit is near impossible to find, so what about a Turbo setup. Looks like I might have to do some custom work. Anyone know any good fabrication shops? Also, all this crap has to be CARB legal kuz I'm a daily driver

Hm. I guess if all of us could find a solution like that we'd all have turbo and supercharged solaras.

theres been a few turbo 1mzs out there and Im in the process of one myself. Prepare to pay big money for custom fabrication. If you can weld yourself you can do it on a budget like me. Im going to let everyone know the price of the setup when its all said and done.

With turbos theres so many setups you can have and theres so many ways to do it, it really depends on what you want so its hard to put a real price on it. Those who have done it already have spent quite a bit.

The supercharger is the easy way to do it but if you want to make more power than the base 4psi you need extensive modification to the fuel system, ect, which can add up over time.

In the end the best way to find the setup for you is to do some research and find out what you can do/afford and how you want to go about doing it.

that link was actually really interesting to read and Ive made up my mind on a supercharger. 2 Questions remain in my head though
is the only s/c for 1mz made by TRD
and if theres is a boost drop off point is there some way to bypass and run 6-7 psi instead of the stock 4. I know theres ppl on here with S/C Solaras. ( Sorry, Im pretty much new to the Toyota scene and pretty much stuck with turbo hondas for a long time ).
( And I'm also sorry if this questio nwas brought up in another post as well )

I'm not trying to hate, but the questions you are asking have been discussed a great deal. I will be happy to give you my 2 cents on a good S/C set-up and how to avoid the perils practically everybody running higher than 4psi boost have been victims of. First though, my advice is to spend a good week searching and reading old posts.

I would say 5.5psi is the limit with proper fuel mods and tuning, others may say 6psi.

Another issue with a S/C 1mz, is there are not many parts out there.

I don't claim to be an authority on this platform, but I have been down the path, feel free to PM with questions anytime.
