Maybe I'm missing something here, but *twice* you mention "popular" cars. Camry is the number one selling car 4 out of the last 5 years. Not too many cars more popular than that.
I know. I'm arguing with the wrong person.
I just think the Solara (at least a Camry) should be a model. Besides, I bet a model company could sell at least 100 copies right here alone.
I'll try to pursue this quest elsewhere. I want a miniature of my car!
Yes the Camry is a popular car, but if you go to a place online or a store that sells model cars. What are you going to find? All sports cars and some glorified trucks. The camry is a family car. Not too many people are going to go buy a toy family car. I agree with you I think they should make a model too. Im just saying that it wouldnt sell very well compared to other cars and thats why they dont make one.
Another way to look at it is, that we are very enthusiastic about our solaras, but if you look at every person that owns a solara, I would say like 5% of us are enthusiastic enough where we modify them and want to go out and buy a model to remind us of our pride and joy while sitting at the desk. The rest just like the good nature of the car and see it as transportation. A side example would be like when I pull up at a light and there is another solara sitting there. I look over to even see if the driver of that solara notices my car. Nope they dont even care. I have yet to get another solara owner to take a second look at my car on the street. It drives me nuts too. I get all the second looks from other people who are generally driving a tuned car. Most just dont have the love and appriciation. When I cruise around in my buddies conv. GT Mustang that is bone stock people in other mustangs wave to us all the time. Its like a mustang code where they are saying hey whats up I dig the ride even if it is stock. There is much more pride there. The point of this long side story is most solara owners are not into cars as much and they would never run to the store and buy a model of their car.
Now take a mustang for example. The owners are much more enthusiastic about their cars and I couldnt begin to tell you how many of those are modded or how enthusiastic people are even in stock form about their cars. There are more people into their mustangs and toy makers see that and they know they would sell a bunch of those as models.
