I didn;t want to hijack a thread... The one about the GT40R install on the 1mz in the Camry. Which was a very clean install from what I saw. But I've got some questions about Turbos. I know how they work, have driven them etc.. but never modified a car with one. Sidenote: I had a Plymouth Sundance w/ a 2.2 intercooled turbo: Wheee! <no laughing>

Isn't a 'charger like that (a GT40R) a bit big for the street? From my understanding, if you get a huge turbo like that it's great for absolute power, but you get lag untill 4 or 5,000 rpm.

And what's this about a tangential turbo? Is the turbine and the compressor counter-rotating and gear driven? Or is this something far simpler that I'm not guessing. Somehow google failed to provide this knowledge

Sentinel : Thinks a tiny turbo on a tiny (250-500cc) bike would be sneaky!

Hey I have a small TD05L-15b and I lag until about 4k. It's all about your engine compresion ratio & limmited exaust gas restrictions bro.

If you have a beast to spool that GT40R it may spool pretty quick. :drinking:

Check out this beast of a turbo!

I got beat to bringing a supra into this. Those huge turbos ARe the ones utilized to make absolute power, but you can also tune them down as far as boost and your engine timing, so you're not always dirving aroudn with 1000 horses under your foot... that's scary just to think about.
