Window tinting cost

Window tinting cost

Postby Jack Soulfire » Fri Apr 07, 2006 9:06 am

Quick question... I'm considering tinting my car this spring. Could anyone give me an estimate on how much this usually costs? I know there are probably varieties of quality, etc.. but what should a decent job set me back.. $150-$200ish? More?

Thanks in advance.

I got my windows tinted (15%) for $140.00. I def suggest to shop around. Main ballpark for tinting jobs on a 2dr is 150-180.

$150 for mine. But then, I knew the guy, and he used top of the line 3m tint (non-metallic).

Thanks for the info guys. Sorry... just never had this done before and thought I'd ask a few questions before I get it done. Curious, what is non-metallic? Any other things I should look for or avoid?

That swap shop is the crap!

Aside from that I paid 125 with lifetime warranty on my last Solara which was tinted (all around minus windshield) with 15% Llumar by a local shop (there's tons around) and I've been quoted 125-145 at various other shops to do the same on my current Solara, but have yet to get around to it. Just make sure the shop you go to uses a film like Llumar or 3M, you don't want any of that cheap crap bubbling up on your windows.

Also, if you're planning to go with somethign like 15% all around, you're probably going to have to pay cash with no reciept because it's illegal and most shops won't run the risk of being blamed for it should you get ticketed.

Besides Llumar and 3M, is Sunguard any good? My shop says that is the only thing they use and so do the shops down in Florida.

See if they'll do the back window in one piece. The guy I go to (he's done all my cars) uses the 3M and does the back window in one large sheet. Cuts down on the chance of it ever peeling at the seams. I paid $200. He also gets the edges right up to the end of the glass so when it rolls down you don't see the space where it goes into the frame. Doesn't really matter with the frameless doors tho.

$115, 5% back and 20% front. And that was back in 2001.

Shop around, some will try and over charge.
