Emblem clear coating?

Emblem clear coating?

Postby Jack Soulfire » Sun Apr 02, 2006 4:41 pm

I have two VVT-i emblems on my solara, purchased about 5-6 mo. apart. I noticed the older one is starting to get small brownish rust-like spots on it and was wondering if anyone had any advice on maybe some kind of clear coating I could paint on with maybe like a nail polish type applicator to prevent them from "rusting."

I also have chrome-like liscense plate borders that are also having the same issue.

Thanks in advance!

I would just take it off if it's rusting.

I'm smart enough to figure that part out.

I'd like to know how to avoid this in the future instead of buying new ones every 6 months.

Good thick wax every three months. Clear nail polish might prevent it but might look nasty.
But I'm guessing it's cheap chrome coating. Higher quality stuff doesn't do that so quickly.
(Grab a cup of coffee and ask Phreak about the metallurgy involved... make sure you have lots of time available) 8)
