for those of you that know richard ( I20solara02I ) and i have been in talks with ZPI racing in order to produce a turbo kit for the 2az. i agreed to allow ZPI to use my car for the testing and production of the prototype turbo kit. i dropped my car off on january 21st and havent seen it since. we agreed upon me paying around $1000 for the kit, and i was told that if anything was broken or damaged on the car - they would replace it. over the last 2 and a half months, communication has been shady at best... ive gotten 4 pictures from then til now.... and my emails and calls have gone unasnwered. i was a few weeks ago that my front mount was "one of a kind" and that id like it alot. i called 2 weeks ago and was told my the receptionist that kenny had decided to not mass produce my kit due to low interest, and that anything else i wanted done to the car i would need to pay for. i was then told that i wasnt getting the FMIC because it had just been mocked up, and not installed. basically, the only thing done to the car over the last 2 and a half months is a basic stage 0 kit. ive got another guy lined up to work on the turbo, one that i have much more confidence in. he took delivery of the car today and found a host of problems. the charge pipe sits too high, hitting the hood when closed, the car has a horrible exhaust leak from around the wastegate. the car clearly hasnt been tuned, there are sooo many problems i cant remember them all. bottom line is that im having to spend even more money to get the car just so i can drive it safely. sorry for the lack of brevity, but i need to vent, and who better to vent to - thanks guys. im just not sure what to do now.

Hey Scott.

I didn't know ZPI was going to do this to you. I was only trying to help out the camry/solara community but I guess ZPI doesn't see enough interest on the boards to mass produce the kit. Even though all they had to do was change the charge piping. If anything at least your the 1st boosted 2az solara. And I will soon join you man.

they probably got into the fabrication and realized it was going to be a major pain in the as$ to make, and decided it wasn't worth the effort because the profit would be low

That really sucks and Im sorry you had to go through this BS.
Scott, you have to understand that in this "solara/camry community" you are in for yourself. You should have just taken your car to your guy to begin with, you would have paid more and would have had the "ONLY" turboed 2AZ. PERIOD!

Well you live and you learn and Good luck with everything.

sorry to hear about this. I didn't know it was going to turn out this way. I hope you find a good custom shop and finally finish that install properly.

Good luck :)

here are some pics of the car right after it was picked up.

problems are as follows:

-charge pipe sits too high so that it its the hood when closed
-exhaust leak not from the wastegate as i was told, but from the holes in the globs of migwelds on the dump tube
-missing secondary 02 sensor
-pcv and fuel evap werent even hooked up when the car was given back
- looks like SCHLOCK SCHLOCK SCHLOCK
- im sure we'll find more, in the meantime, enjoy the pics - this is what a turbo kit comes out like if you are on acid, drink beer, and bang a fat chick all while making the kit.

i been there and i did warn all of you guys about the risk. i believe i also mentioned that i never liked zpi because all of the information they given was unclear.

anyway, if you do not not have sufficient fund (say at least 4G) you might want to stop right here. The further you go, the more money and commitment you will have to spend. to build the first turbo kit requires alot of risk and resource. however, i hope whoever is helping you really know what is he doing.

good luck

they guy that we are working with now most definetely knows what he is doing. hopefully over the next 2 weeks ill have updated pictures of how the kit looks, and some dyno sheets as well. ZPI was very nice and told us alot in the beginning, i cant control people lying to me. which is precisely what happened. im just glad that the car is in capable and trustworthy hands now.

OK fine, lets assume there's not a market for the Kit, does that still mean you keep the person's car and keep f'in around with it and screwin it up... WTF?
