what does your buddy weigh? i believe there is a sensor in the seat cushion and seat track and airbag is disabled if belt buckled and airbag deployment parameters not met.

I know in mine if the passenger isn't wearing their seatbelt, then the Right AB light comes on and says "off". Make 'em buckle up! ;)

yea, there is a sensor in the passenger side seat.It should only come on if the person weighs like over 85lbs or something (which is most adults), so with all my passengers except little kids it always comes on and blinks also if they dont wear there seatbelt.

Here's what I've noticed in mine.

If I have something small in the pass seat (heavy briefcase, etc.) then the seatbelt light comes on as well as the airbag off.

If I have a passenger there and they aren't wearing their seatbelt - same thing.

But if I have something kinda heavy (but still under 80lbs - like a big CRT monitor or speaker cab) and lock it in with the seatbelt, I still get an airbag off light.

So - if none of those things fit your situation, you have no choice but to take it to the dealer and see if its covered under warranty. Or just ignore the light. ;)
