Postby SolaraBlue » Sun Mar 26, 2006 12:24 pm

is there anything i should make sure the mechanics do during install of tein springs/ tokico struts? i know to watch out for the abs cable, anything else? also i was thinking of buying these struts off javajoe http://www.geocities.com/javajoe_2/strut.html one of them is missing a cap as you can see in the pics, is that going to be a problem?
thanks!

Not sure about the missing cap, but as for pointers, make sure when you compress the springs that you do each side a little bit at a time so that there is fairly even pressure on each side. Also, use a torque wrench to get the right specs when you put everything back on. There is a tutorial and diagram in the tutorial section. Gluck, its fun/a pain, and definitely worth it afterwards. :)

I see your already familiar with ABS sensors, they do tent to break if not supported well. but looks like your prepared. GL

Tell them to cut the bumpstops (two rings worth).

the bump stops are to keep your car from bottoming out. It kinda acts like a stopper that keeps your strut from pushing all the way in and trashing your strut, mounts or anything else. The reason for cutting the bumpstops is to create more suspension travel of the strut. Obviously with shorter springs there's less travel for the strut with stock bump stops. Cutting the bump stops will create a bit more travel for the strut. Hope this helps.
