Ok guys i have a problem ive been hiding

Postby Wang2k » Fri Mar 24, 2006 9:25 pm

Ever since the first time I cranked up my car with the sc(at 4 pounds 7 lbs it acts the same) my idle has been like a top fuel dragster. It surges and is very erratic. I have a vid if anyone would like to hear it. Anyway could it be my weapon R intake with HUGE K&N? ive searched and searched on here and cant decide what i think my problem is. any suggestions? all my vacuum lines are connected i have the pvc hooked up, the brake booster hooked up, the line on the top front of the supercharger is going the the vacuum rail, i have a T installed in that line and its going to the bypass actuator, i plugged the one line from the vsv for the acis. the one way check valve is installed in the throttle body line with the mark on the throttle body side. does this sound correct?? any input would be greatly appreciated as i am stumped(unless its my short ram)

also(im just remembering this) i think it might be my oxygen sensors k im done

short ram intake and/or a K&N conical filter would never do such a thing
that is the only thing i can assure you of without seeing that vid

put it on streetfire.net or something ... or uh putfile.com ? is that right?

problems

Sounds very much like a vacuum leak. Have a shop hook up a smoke machine to the intake system and see if you can find a leak.

mine was erratic when I first started the car when I got back and sure enough, a couple of miles later, I threw a check engine light corresponding to my O2 sensor. Could be the same thing. Even before I deployed I had the same problem and never threw a code, but it seemed to fix itself. Not this time I guess

ooh man, don't know what to tell you. I was just thinking (and hoping) it was just the O2 sensor.

Sure sounds like an air leak to me.. Better double check all your hoses and make sure you're using change #1 of the SC installation instructions.

I FOUND IT!!! thanks guys but due to my ignorance i never did anything with the port right under the throttle body thats hard to see, i capped it off and things are alot smoother, i still think i need some o2 sensors. I have switched to a 5.5 lb pulley until i can get an afc. I found a dyno tuning shop(Polk Performance) and hope to get some time in soon(5 runs for 150 with tuning

I'm glad you found the problem. I'm about to comment on the Weapon-R intake that it is working for me. I also changed the filter that came with intake because it's too noisy for me, so I installed the K&N RR-3003 instead. A heat shield for the filter was added too.

Looks Outstanding

Looks outstanding but you better fix that fuel system before you run much boost. I bet it still surprises a lot of people though!
