'06 V6 Only Throttle/Shift Lag Problems

Nothing different, just affirming what's already been said. I took my '06 in with the TSB in hand and after 30 minutes was taken back to the service area so I could SEE the flash codes to confirm that the 'fix' was already there. Got the story about the engineering issues and countless visits - not just from Solara owners - but many Toyota owners about what is likely an issue that will never die.

It was at that time that I decided to do the DocJohn intake mod, and the improvement was quite good, to the point that I hardly notice it. I would recommend this mod to anybody that's at all bothered by the lag. But it still gets me once in a great while. I also took out the intake silencer and swapped out the air filter for a K&N. That might help a little too.

I've order the MAFci (which obviates all of those changes) and I hope that it offers an even greater improvement. I'll let you know when it finally happens.

i'm looking forward to hearing what you think about the mafci. i was ready last month but need to wait till end of month to order. cant wait to do same....

You know just recently I feel like my car has truly opened up. I use to have the lag problem, but since I had it reflashes it improved but still not perfect. Now I dont know if its in my head or not but ever since I hit the 13,000 (13,457 as of now) I feel like the engine has really opened up. Now I know the break-in period is at 1500 or so but I dont know what it is my car just responds faster. No battery disconnected, no intake trick, no acoustic damperner removed... just a K&N drop-in. My speculation is maybe now that the K&N is a bit dirtier it works better, and I'm getting more air flow.

Or it could be a placebo effect..
