sup. i'm on here to acquire some information. i need to know if a 2jz RWD swap is even feasible (possible) to do in a solara. i heard that the solara platform is no more than a supra chassis/platform with a different body and FWD. i don't want to get attacked for my lack of knowledge on the subject. even if it's a huge project (which is my intentions) and it's very expensive to do that's ok... that's why it's a project that i'm willing to spend lots of time doing. i realize if i'm wrong about it being the same platform there will be lots of custom fabrication. i'm fully aware of that. if someone could hit me back with a little knowledge on this it would be appreciated. i'm willing to tackle this project at any cost. it's a dream but i will tackle it and hopefully accomplish it. thanks for the time and hopefully someone will be able to help me out on this subject.

It's been brought up plenty more times than that too. It's also my dream to do it.

not much of the 'solara' factor will still be in the car. the interior will be almost completely useless after all of the chassis and floorpans are modified.

buy a supra man, $10-$12k for a used non turbo

conversion to 2jz-gte can run anywhere from $3k-$6k pending on how its done. (the transmission is a huge price factor also, between auto and 6 speed)

i found out a long time ago that this site is completely useless for that dream of yours. just a bunch of 1mz, 3mz, 5sfe, and 2az guys. terrible... i left honda-tech's forum after i found this one. complete culture shock.

Would it be any easier to start with a Supra and custom fit the Solara body over it? It's a lot of body work, but it seems to make more sense...what about even doing a custom molded fiberglass/carbon fiber Solara body?

you prefer the exterior of a solara over the mk4?

yea maybe for a later MKIII Supra... The MKIV supra would cost you about twice that if you want it to run... and that is non-turbo. I have seen MKIV supras go for $35K-$40K Stock but in immaculate condition. I dont think i've ever seen a MKIV supra for the 10K-12K range that would run worth a crap, or even still have paint on it

No way! Just suggesting going that route if you really want the Supra performance in a Solara...
