PXL, I had the same experience, the higher octane gas gives me a couple of MPG more - I only use 91 or 93 now.
For 15 gallons of gas it costs about $3 bucks more to go premium (20¢ extra per gallon); but you can get an extra 30 miles out the tank of gas. Its just about a dollar extra to fill-up with the good stuff considering the extra milleage in the case of the V6 VVT-i.

My last fill up was with 93 octane. I'm not done with the tank yet, but it does seem that I am getting a bit more MPG. Not a whole lot, perhaps 1.2 MPG at this point. Of course, I'm just going by the computer...I never take the time to do the manual calculation. I guess, depending on the spread in price, it may turn out to be a SMALL benefit to pay for the higher grade. I'll keep trying it for a little while longer.

I drive like a freakin' bat outta hell and my first couple of tanks I averaged about 15mpg (mostly all in-town foot-to-the-floor driving on two wheels). I've been running 91 now for over two weeks and my worst tank yet (same conditions as above) was over 18mpg. On the open highway on all four wheels I've been averaging 25-28mpg per tank.
