TRD Front Strut Tower Bar vs Stock

TRD Front Strut Tower Bar vs Stock

Postby PXLpainter » Sun Feb 19, 2006 10:13 pm

I just gotta know - what makes the TRD Front Strut Tower Bar better than the stock one? It looks like it has a little more metal but other than red paint and a decal, what's the big diff???

Thanks - JF

K - maybe I'll just paint mine Blue and put a FOX sticker on it then!

(Geez - guess my off-road blood is oozing out a bit!) ;)

The only reason it was developed was to clear the supercharger. The stock strut tower bar will not clear the supercharger. I don't think there are any structural or other functional advantages of the TRD bar.

You've learned nothing in your first month! A TRD sticker adds 5 HP!

Geez.. after a little more searching on SG - I found this thread that I missed previously...

"Stock FSB vs TRD FSB - a Real Comparison"

Some interesting views in there too... I may still consider it and make my own conclusions...

I cannot comment whether it made a difference or not since I did all at once (springs, rims, FSB), however I can tell you that it is a much better build than the factory one... I have heard others say that it does make a difference over the factory one, especially on harder cornering.

Also, do the stock SEs even come with a front strut brace?

I dunno - I assumed that all Solaras came with it.

All I know is that my car handles like my Girlfriend's Camry - which is similar to a Lincoln Continental! ;)

ANYTHING to improve it will be a +
