rims fit but tires aren't wide enough to protect the sidewall

Can I get a 3rd opinion? When you say the tires aren't wide enough what width are you talking about?

The tread width, how wide the actual tire is.(picture a donut on a table, the width is from one side to the other, from side touching the table to the top side.

And that is where the number 215 comes in? If so I need at least what size 225? and what max size? Sorry for the twenty questions.

8.0 flush fits w/ 225. 7.5 flush fits w/ 215.

It's fine. It's just not "stock" wide. OEM tires have it wider to protect the rim in case of curbs and such. Since it's a 18" rim, you will scuff the rim on curbs. 215 is enough for that width wheel, however, slightly larger as the recommended 225 is a better bet.

It fits.

dunno the hub area for the nut and hub cap center kinda protrude out from how it looks. It would look more nicer if it were more inward instead of outward.
