noise when i hit gas from stop.

i don't know since when, but recently i start noticing a weird noise from behind the dash.

i really can't tell if its from under the hood or inside of the car, but i think it's from engine area..

when i hit the gas and start running from stop, i hear a little noise almost like putting a stone in a washing dryer.
it's not really loud and only when i start from almost complete stop.
it's last only until i hit the speed of 25mile/h or so.
i can hear the noise louder when the car is cold.

other than noise i don't have any problem or warning light comes on, but it's kind of make me worry.

does anyone knows or hear about such a noise?
any info will be appreciated..

I have a faint noise upon acceleration from a stop but only when the car is cold. Can't even describe the sound but I have not heard it in prior winters. Closest I can describe it is a rapid vibration, maybe plastic on metal?

a similar problem could be rocker arm rattling... but i would think that would rattle all the time. Not just when cold or from dead stop.

first i thought that some rocks hitting the wheel well, but it's always when i start driving...

is the sound sorta like clicking noises? like if something is rattling under the hood somewhere? well anyways i heard it too and when i took it to the dealer, they said that my car was pinging...which i think is bs cuz i always put in unleaded plus or higher from shell or chevron...

yeah, It's kind of more like clicking noise. It's hard to describe tho...
my car already passed the 36,000 miles, and not covered by warranty.. that's why i kinda don't wanna take it to the dealer..

Good thought and good counterpoint, I doubt this is it.

As far as the pinging, it's possible if you're V6 tact what octane fuel are you running on? If you're a 4 cylinder you can use whatever octane as you're only running on the 9.6:1 compression ratio pistons, however the V6 by my research has a compression ratio of 10.8:1, which is a definite need for premium fuel.

As far as anything else goes, it could just be some random engine component (you got me as to what it is, probably somethign to do with belts or anything like the rotating assembly or anything consistantly moving under your hood) my guess would be that is restricted by movement when it's colder outside, and once it gets moving fast enough or long enough something syncs up, and the noise smooths out the same way a sqeaky AC belt will sometimes when you turn on the engine and then rev it and let it die down and it stops.

I know this isn't much help, and I don't know much about gen 2's, but it's ideas. I'm sure there's a good company motto or something about ideas that I could cleverly put in here to make things seem brighter and shine a motivational light on myself... but it's 8:30 AM and things like that just don't happen this early.

could be valve clearances..... what kinda oill are you running? is it up to the correct level?

This is a long shot, but check to make sure your hood is tight when its shut.

I'm running I4, and use the cheap gas...
the oil level is right (i just checked it), and using Toyota Filter with Mobile1 synthetic.
and.. i think my hood is tight...

I'm gonna say valve knocking, regardless of the fuel being used. Is this an automatic? If it's stick, shift earlier than usual and hit the gas harder than usual. In other words floor it in the wrong gear and it should make the knocking a lot worse for the moment.

Maybe you have a screw in a front tire, that would sound as though it were coming from the engine compartment, and you can't really hear it when you speed up.

I don't think it's from the tire.
it's kind of sound like small rock hitting the wheel well, but i checked there and nothing it may cause this sound around the tire and wheel well.

i had some small rock on the tire, and heard the noise when it's hit the road, but this is nothing like that. a little deaper sound and much louder.
