Looks familiar... Nice choice. For a quick easy first mod that really changes the look, I'd go with MichaelT's grills. I get comments on them everytime she goes to Toyota. And the stainless Solara Sill plates look great on our color combo.
For performance mod, we only have two intakes so far. No really fun stuff. But the expensive intake (cp-e) is an AFC that tunes her as well.
As for tips/tricks, I put on in the Gen2 tutorial section just for us droptops. I'm betting that in SoCal you'll use it more than I get to.
