Gen 1 CP-e reviews.

For those of you that might not have seen it, the Gen one MAFci got rave reviews from the Gen1 folks. If nothing else, these results and impressions back up my theory that comparing cp-e and Injen intakes is like comparing TRD and an $80 muffler. Both make noise, but one is quality, one is a ricey-mass-produced-POS. If your SG buddy was putting one of those on, wouldn't you say something? That's all I'm sayin'. That's why I preach the cp-e.

Some excerpts from the Gen1 thread...
dominoSLEV6 wrote:it sounds naaaaaasssssssstttttttttyyyyyyyyy! And I mean that in every good way of the word. I like the sound better than my injen. It honestly scared me the first time I floored it pulling out of the neighbor hood in 1st. It's hard to describe but it's less of a whine than the injen and more of a "wah". Definitely like that better. If and when I ever go SC I want this intake system to accompany the blower and exhaust sound for sure.

jhenty wrote:I also installed the cpe intake last week and had the same impressions about the construction. It is an impressive and high quality piece. The difference is noticeable and at times you dont realize the newfound power because it is so smooth across the band. power now seems to hit at 3500rpms or less rather than higher up. The ecu part was really easy to follow and simple (I've never done this kind of work and had no problem). I will get pics up asap too. Great product and I highly suggest it.

2002greenhornet wrote:I just got mine installed too. The quality and engineering is really impressive. Powder coated aluminum intake and electronics that clearly took a lot of work to perfect. I'm Gen 1.5 with and auto, and the power difference is very noticeable. I have no doubt that I'm feeling the power gains that they claim on the web site. The sound is absolutely beastly when you gun it.

The pre-programmed map is extremely smooth, with added power across the band. These guys are engineers, for sure, and it shows in their work. I got the programmable MAF option, so if and when I do more modifications I can tweak it.

Overall--awesome and worth the money. This ain't your average aftermarket intake, it's a complete system.

xSolarax wrote:Alright, I just got my Cp-e Intake installed and all I have to say is wow. This thing is f'n disgusting . This really is one mean intake system. The guys up at Cp-e really do know their sh*t, and aren't bs around about this thing. One of the doods up at the shop is an electrical engineer, while the other is a mechanical engineer. Having these two different backgrounds, shows how science/research works. I drove home on the highway and I could really feel the difference in pick up when the pedal was down. When I was just passing someone just cruising it was a smooth accel. I really can't believe this intake.
When looking at their website and seeing the price of this intake I know I was like DAMN thats expensive, but once this was installed I was like DADAMN!! My girlfriend came with me and just to let you know she isn't really into cars but when we were on the road she was like I want to drive. I have had different intakes such as weapon-r and injen in my past two cars and this intake puts those to shame, no joke. Really are noticable gains.
The only downside if there is a downside is its loud. Loud can be good for those who want it to be loud, but those who don't why would you get an intake anyway.
CP-E intake gets my approval i can say that. I couldn't be happier. If anyone has any questions pm me.

xSolarax wrote:i have an 2000 sle v6 auto, and as soon as i left the shop i could feel the pull on the car... now i don't have to floor it just to accelerate quickly, i know kinda just ease up to the speed... cp-e hands down has been the best mod ive ever done to a car(performance wise)

trdkamuri51o wrote:its expensive for the most part but look at the gains for the alitma (guess what one of the first mods is) 20whp & 15lb. ft torque... thats fin amazing for a shortram (serveral people dynoed and it works)

the trd supercharger cant touch that & headers....

sorry but 600 for this is well worth it.

FYI, Only difference between the Gen1 and Gen2 kits is that they needed a heat shield, we didn't.

Cool.. Only reason I was still gonna get the Injen was because they hadn't tuned it for the S/C.... Will I have to let them know that or what?

You're local, have you asked if they'd tune yours? That would open up the Gen1 market for them. (They'd want your car for a few days tho)

As far as I know, both options for the Gen 2 are still not CARB compliant, correct?
