Question for those who have 18"+ rims

Postby Gorcman » Thu Jan 26, 2006 10:37 pm

Hey, i wash just wondering for those who have 18"+ rims (or rims heavier than stock), do you guys notice a slower acceleration speed compared to the stock rims?

Cuz i really dont wanna upgrade my wheel size if i'll lose some horsepower. Also, does anyone know the weight of the stock rims? Lastly, for those with the TRD springs, do you guys have problems clearing the curb, speed bumps, steep hills, etc?

I can't comment on the power loss b/c I've only had 18's, no 17" stockies, but I can't imagine it's that much difference. As far as the drop, the TRD springs aren't that huge of a drop, but you still need to be careful anyways. I don't worry about speed bumps, but I'm always careful of those cement things in parking spots. I wouldn't worry too much about it, just drop it. :)

My 18"s are substantially heavier than the factory 17"s and I notice no difference at all... If anything, with my Michelins I get better launches cuz I actually GRIP...

yeah, when I had my 18"s I didn't feel any difference at all......it feels just like your OEM wheels.

There's a thread w/ the stock 17" rim weights for shipping somewhere in here.

My 18" set up is only slightly heavier than stock (~ 5 pounds each) and my results are the same as theprodigy79 describes.
