if I were to use them it would be ok though right? I mean it wouldn't harm the engine? ( would I need tuning to make it work?)

Cause the auction is going for $10 right now.

i have 330cc's i think and i'd say yes you would need tuning. I'd also recommend Jim's fuel kit, MAF upgrade, fuel pump upgrade... maybe a few other things but i'd make sure to at least have all that.

if you dont pick them up I will, I'd buy them, but i doubt the auction will stay that low. Running stock boost new injectors arnt really necessary but I would suggest a new fuel pump and fuel upgrade, maybe some lower than 315 cc injectors, 250 maybe, not sure what they would come off of. If you plan on running higher boost then def. pick up a set of injectors like these.

Like everyone else said, @4psi these are not necessary at all. If you do put them on, you will absolutely have to tune your fuel map. I have 318 cc injectors and if I didn't tune my map the fuel trims would max out and I would throw a CEL. Now if you want them for the future, they may be a good idea since you would not have to use a different injector plug harness but you still need a piggyback unit or something to dial them in.

If you're concerned about fuel delivery at that boost, get Jim's fuel ungrade and the Walbro pump from URD. You will be fine.

the stock 1mz injectors are something around 265cc/min at 50psi...

the 33o's from the 2jz-ge non-turbo are 330cc/min at 42psi...

Make sure you realize this when you upgrade your injectors. Pay attention to the psi rating the injectors normally run at.

Thanks for the info guys. I think I'll stay at 4 psi for now. I will, however, get the JFU and Walbro pump, since thats the main thing that everyone gets when their boosted. Thanks for you help.

Vampire,

Did you get a full tune for this, or just use an S-AFCII?

I have Split Second FTC. I tuned it myself with my Innovate Wideband and OBDII datalogger.

I have a set of Supra NA 330 cc/min injectors for sale. Know this is not the place to sell them but I need to inventory all the random parts in my basement before I make a post.

Bigger Injectors

Postby jim@foreignaffairs » Thu Jan 26, 2006 12:55 pm

Hello all. I haven't been on for some time since I have been super busy but finally got on and thought I would reply to the bigger injector question. First of all let be say that I have an '01 Solara SLE w/ 3.1 Liter (bored out a bit) 9.2/1 compression, 7-8 psi boost, high flow heads, Total Seal rings, etc. etc.. My car last dynoed 274.9 HP at the wheels through the automatic transmission. I do use a S-AFC for fine tuning. I use STOCK injectors! I have modified my fuel system to deliver a rock steady 50 psi with various things, the most important of which was something most of you have already bought from Foreign Affairs, a special fuel kit that fixes the problem with the stock fuel filter and fuel lines after the filter. Aftermarket injectors are completely unnecessary. I have tried Supra injectors and they always ran too rich especially at idle. There is no reason to spend money on aftermarket injectors unless you plan on and build your motor for much higher output. By the way, I have a almost new set of N/A late model Supra injectors for sale cheep!

Welcome back to "a" board Jim! Besides the fuel mod you may want to mention what else you did for people who don't know. As I recall you installed an aftermarket out of tank fuel pump. BTW, I will attest to problems with idle in my ride using bigger injectors. ECU flashes into open and closed loop at idle. I put my stock injectors back on and there is no problem. My trims are fine and the duty cycle at WOT is fine. I have the Walbro pump and Jim's fuel mod which I fabricated myself.

After factoring in Jim's kit, I guess what is being said is that the problem has more to do with the fuel pump than the injectors. Right?
