2006 SLE & Power Windows

OK, so I was reading my owner's manual recently, and noticed that my driver's side window is supposed to be auto up and down.

It's auto down, but NOT auto up. Is this a mis-print in the manual, or is it really supposed to be auto up too?

Seems to me, I read that it was supposed to be up/down on a website too.

If it is supposed to be auto up/down, do you think it's just some kind of computer glitch, or switch glitch (oh, that rhymed :-) ).

Seems weird to me...

Thanks!

There isn't auto up for security, it would cut off your hand if you somehow left it there and decided not to move it while it cut off your arm slowly and painfully.

Actually, I have the same thing as you, doesn't bother me.

It's supposed to be auto up with pinch protection. Honest, it says so right in the owner's manual. So, it's a mis-print?

You should call up the dealership and ask the technician, they'd know for sure and would tell you straight out whether or not it is a misprint or a technical problem. Not that many people on SG have '06's and apparently they aren't answering right now.. you'll probably get some replies tomorrow or the next few days, they're all out partying right now.

I would just call up a technician, free and quick. If you have warranty still you can get it fixed for free too.

I just haven't ever been in a car w/ auto up.. thought it wasn't possible. I know some people have tried enabling it which I find pointless, but s'all good. People have preferences. :)

Actually, it would come in really handy at toll booths and such. Wouldn't have to hold the switch up after you take off. I'll wait to see what enyone else has to say...and if no one knows, I'll ask when I take it in for service next.

I'm surprised that there aren't more '06s in the forum, because they came out WAY early. I bought mine in April.

Thanks for your help and good luck with that part you are looking for.

On the 2004+ it is Auto Down and Auto Up... When you push the button down a little, it does not go down automatically... however when you push down and feel a slight click it will go down on its own.. the same goes for putting the window up: If you pull it up slightly it won't be auto, however when you feel the slight click it should go up automatically... This is ONLY valid for the drivers side (the passenger side has neither auto up or auto down).

If it is not working for you, you may want to try reprogramming it. It's quite simple:

Start with your window all the way up... Press the button down ALL THE WAY and hold till the window stops... Pull the button up ALL THE WAY and hold till the window is all the way up... repeat this process THREE TIMES, then try the auto feature again.

If it STILL does not work, take it back to the dealer and complain...

actually, mine is auto up, 2004, and i believe that if there's something in the way, it stops and goes all the way down again, well, that's how it is in our lexus es 300, haven't tested it in my solara yet, but still, i do have an auto up

Hmmm... I'll have to go try this in my 06. Would love to have auto up/down.

On my 89 Supra they had a plastic tab that prevented the auto up from working. A simple snap of that tab and instant auto up.

For the passenger side I picked up a module from autoloc and that gave me auto up/down on that side too.

What about power seats only on one side? Only one temperature control? No memory seats? You can complain about many missing luxury features but for the price it's super. They have to distinguish between Toyota and Lexus cars so only the Lexus cars have all those above features. As for me, I only think auto up is great when going through tolls or equivalent things. No biggie not having it at all on the passenger side. After all, how often does the passenger even have the window all the way open?
