Hey fellas,

Really sorry to start up another post on this but I am in desperate need of some help. Have every single bolt to my supercharger except for one....COUNT IT 1.....bolt needed to get my car out of the toyota garage and put this project FINALLY to rest.

COUNTERSUNK BOLT (flat top with socket head fitting): Described as Alternator Pivot Bolt--- TWO OPTIONS HERE:

1.) REGULAR: 10mm x 1.25mm x 100mm

2.) Modified: 10mm x 1.5mm x 120mm (would drill hole in alternator in order to change thread pitch.) Bout an hour in labor.

IMPOSSIBLE BOLT TO FIND!!!!!!

Any ideas??? any help greatly appreciated....1 BOLT AND MY CAR IS BACK ON THE STREETS.....thanks fellas.

yeah, thanks for the help man...kinda figured out my problem tonight though. that bolt that is needed is a specific japanese sized piece speciifically designed for our supercharger application. and even when changing the bold to a different thread pitch, you still cannot find those dimensions and more importantly the length of that bolt to accomodate.

Guess I am going to have to resort to the final option...getting a hex bolt with the original specifications of the piece and then just grind the head down flat where it cannot be undone. (if I need a change in the pulley, I will just have to have it cut and replaced with the process completed all over again.)

For you supercharged guys, does this seem like the best alternative?? any better ideas?? judging by the hassle it takes to get these officially rare parts for a supercharger and the stress it takes to put them in, I may in fact be the last person to install a supercharger for our platform.

Thanks guys,

I'd give it to a machine shop and have them put it on a lathe.
Grinding just wouldn't cut it with me. (no pun intended)
Got Boost?? :sweet:

I was looking for the same bolt. After swaping out my alternator ,I ddint feel like the bolt was tight enough. TRD USA doenst have anyaccording to the guy I spoke with(Paul). The SC has been discontinued along with all parts :x .

This is disappointing that any replacement parts wont be available in the future. I guess its going to have to be custum for everything moving forward.

Fastenal makes a bolt teh correct length and size, but teh wrong thread pitch.

Another option is to grind out the alternator thread and heli-coil the new therad pitch in teh alternator. Sounds like a lot of work, but its a viable option that wont leave you high and dry in the future.

OT. It's kind of funny they stopped making stuff for this SC kit that has sold out. When most of the truck SC kits are sitting on dealers shelves across the country with huge discounts.

The 10mm alternator pivot bolt has a special pitch (1.25mm) that is normally used for 8mm bolts.

I found the 10mmx1.25mmx100mm in hex head from: http://www.mcmaster.com/

bolt

Postby Sentinel » Thu Jan 12, 2006 1:00 pm

I don;t think you should have to grind the head off a bolt. I'd check (as someone else suggested) McMaster Carr, MSC industrial, Grainger, and any (and all) other hardware suppliers. As a last resort go to a machine shop with a metric lathe and have them turn you one, which will be expensive, and you may not find a shop willing to do such a tiny job.
I am also quite surprised you can't get one from Toyota / TRD.

Isn't the blower mfd. by Kazumaa or something? maybe they could help you.

Hey guys,

all is good at the moment. Finally got my car back....that's right...I am finally officially boosted and I absolutely love it!!! (the sound is truly amazing.) Right now there is a temporary shoulder in replace for the alternator bolt which seems to be working fine for right now (no rubbing yet). Rest assured I will check with trd and if not rethread the alternator and replace it with a different pitched countersunk bolt....thats all we can really do.
