"range" error

Postby Somedude » Tue Jan 10, 2006 8:59 pm

when I fill the tank all the way, the range meter reads 450 miles but sometimes the car sometimes go more or less than that.

I have a 4 cylinder 5 speed automatic.
I've been calculating the MPG by hand on every fill up and my average is about 18-19 MPG. I do not have a lead foot and do mostly city driving . But I don't see why I shouldn't be getting the recommended MPG of 23 for city driving.
I never paid attention to the range meter, but remember that it is never above 300. On my fill up this week, I notice that the range is 284 like others here have stated.

I know it's been said a thousand times on SG, but do a manual calculation of mpg. I doubt your mileage is really that bad. If it were something's wrong. If it's wrong then maybe they can replace something. Try it next time you have a good highway roadtrip stretch. That'll be most accurate.
