anyone know if I can get a turbo for a 1999 Solara SLE V6?
just a thought, cuz I had a trd supercharger but sold that.. in hope of getting one.. :-\
any response would be greatly appreciated. thanks you guys.

and if I can get a turbo, about how much would that cost? (including like the blow off valve and turbo-timer etc..)

Thanks again.

why on earth did you sell the supercharger? was it a full kit?

No company makes a full kit for the solara, as far as my research has taken me.... you'd have to fabricate the necessary pipes... which can be pretty costly.

If you find one out there then please let us know especially me cuz I'd much rather have a turbo instead of a supercharger. I love the sound of a blow off valve and I've heard that it gives you more power and even better gas mileage (please correct me if I'm wrong).

ya a turbo would be cool but not economical(?) cause you would have to fabricate EVERYTHING

any turbo for a 1mz would have to be custom and shidosha is getting his done but it has definitely cost him an arm and a leg to do, you would have to talk to him about it but everything is custom, good luck and let us know what you are doing.

You forgot the biggest part, adding fuel, new injectors, pump, ect. technically it is pretty easy, the hard part is the tuning. And as far as I know the solara has weak internals.

Hey go with the turbo for 2 reasons:
1.) I think you'd have the ONLY solara with a Turbo (if you do one you might as well go twin turbo ;)

and

2.) Turbo's are more efficient than a supercharger because a supercharger has a belt that is mechanically taking power from the system before it puts back in... A turbo uses the exhaust which is wasted anyway.

yes but turbos produce more heat and are proven typically to make a cars engine less reliable than a supercharger. They each have there benefits and downsides but it comes down to what you want to do with it.

Supercharger=Low end power
Turbo=High end power

Supercharger, Better for take offs and city driving
Turbo, Better for highway or cruising power.

Efficiency= Depends where and when you use it.

Engine life, Boost kills, no matter if its alittle or allot. 1 lb of boost will kill and engine faster then no lb of boost.

Must I add track racing dont like turbos as much. Unless its small ones. Because extent use of turbo causes the motor to loose power in long cuircut racing.. UNLESS its only small turbos. Like rally racing. Not allot of Hp or major turbo. Because they have downfalls. A supercharger was meant for low power and mid power, but will lag high power a bit due to its maximum run turns.

Thats why all motor rules if you can built it right.
