Tip: The filter's in a little plastic tray. Don't lose the tray! Guys in MD took mine out and trashed the tray with the filter. Cost me way too much to buy that stupid little cage!

^^I totally forgot about this story bro. Everytime you tell it, I can't help it but lol... mice...that's whacked!!! :drinking: :drinking: ^^

^^ LMAO! Sorry Mike C. (It's pretty phreakin' funny though!)

Just curious for others' future reference... how much was that tray?

How many miles do you guys have on your cars, that the A/C filter is that nasty? I hadn't thought about changing the inside filter for a few more months (I should have 25k miles on it by Springtime).

1. Remove one screw from the "air strut" on the right side of the glove box. Take the strut off the peg and let it dangle.

2. Push in the sides of the glove box in the middle and pull the thing down. Then pull it toward you to unseat the hinge clips on the bottom.

3. Pull out the filter cage. (I'll see if I have a pic)

4. swap filters

5. put it all back together.

P.S. I'm thinking that cage was near $70. (again... don't throw it out.) I'll check my records next time I'm in there.

Cool... but I think I'll be trying the 3M house filter trick next time. After purchasing the last one I was like... "That's it?"

i got the purple one on homedepot. the paper part is hard to take off the filter so i jsut cut around it. at the end i end up with 2 A/C filter with 15$ i spend. i think it is a good DIY and cheap. consider that toyota dealer charge 60$ and 15 min DIY for $8.

Thanks for the tips

Sweet! Someone actually is using my method. LOL.

Yup, that damn carton frame was a pain, since it is glued on to the filter.
You only got 2 filters out of it? I made ine into six for the xA. Is the Solara filter that much bigger?

I just changed again for the second time (30k maintenance); and, here's what it's looked at 15k vs brand new one.

Now I'm scared to look. I'm at 65,000 and I never even thought about the filter. I guess I should change it now, huh?

$25 bucks at NAPA.

MikeATL,
Can you supply the NAPA Part number? I searched there online and couldn't find any A/C Air filters for the Solara.

Check for the Camry Air Filter, I think thats what they searched for at NAPA.

I wish I had taken a picture of my airfilter changed at 20k (after being changed at 10k). It had seeds and twigs in it.
