Traction control - GOOD

Well, I'm snow bound today in Kansas. We got like a foot of the white stuff on the ground and I don't want to risk some else running into my new ride. But last night coming home from work we had about 3 inches of snow on the ground and the traction control did me pretty good, at first it kindda freaked me out because it sounds a low beep when it activates and it also flashes the skidding car icon on the dash, but it did the trick and got me home safe and most importantly, without running into curbs or someone else.

You're lucky to have so little snow. Had 14" Sat and 10" yesterday. I agree, TracCtrl works great. Amazing how it compensates and adjusts. I'm also impressed with the fact that when I got home last night, I just pulled into the driveway of 10" snow and plow buildup at end, drove right through it all into the garage without a problem. Neighbor couldn't believe it. GREAT CAR...no one can deny that.

yea TCS is awesome in bad weather. it helps keep control of the car pretty good. in the dry it sucks cuz it limits any kind of wheelspin tho

Yep, love the traction control system in the wintertime. Makes me feel so much more confident driving in the bad weather.

VSC is a different system (Vehicle Stabilty Control) I got that too. I think VSC helps you when you are skidding by using the brakes on individual wheels to straighten the car (works with all 4 wheels). The traction control only works with the drive wheels by detecting slippage and by sending the power to the wheel with the better grip (I think).

If you heard a beeping noise while the traction light was flashing, it means the VSC system detected a skid and was in process of correcting it. The forward traction control only flashes the dash light when it activates.

Thanks for the info. I did hear the beep while turning, and yes, skidding a bit. Seems like the system works well.

Don't forget to give credit to ABS. A few times in the last couple of weeks, I've had all 3 systems kicking in at the same time! Imagine the bells, whistles, and lights all coming on at once! The kids love it!! "Dad, let's skid some more!"

Is there such thing as an aftermarket TCS/VSC, or too complex to retrofit a set from a j/y? I know this is a dumb question, but the search ain't workin' right and I'm not willing to trade in my car unless there are better reasons (well, maybe a silver+black int. convertible)

When stability control first came out, it was marketed that there would be retrofit kits available. I do not think any kits have hit the market for several reasons, including the integration of the system with ABS, the numerous sensors, etc.

I've gotta agree- VSC and TRAC are great! The first time VSC kicked in, it seemed very wierd, but I'm soooo glad that I have it. It has saved me a few times.

Yea it works great. Our last storm we had a foot of snow, and my driveway was unplowed and its a slight incline and my car had no trouble at all, it went right through.

i have an 04 Sport. I think all i have is ABS and it sound like a major grinding noise when it kicks in. I hate it. i think it causes me to slide even worse.
