Turbo solara?

Postby Turbosolara » Wed Nov 30, 2005 1:50 pm

why does a chip and 1.5 psi more would get you 25% more power?? is a "good tuning" necessary means more HP? the answer is NO! because you can lean out your tuning and certainly to get more HP but the trade off is that you are giving too much stress to your motor and it will not last long.

a side note is that i heared from many car shops that those turbo cars with crazy HP (most of 4 bangers) were featured on the magazines, many of them blow the motor after the dyno for magazines...because they were pushing the limit. This created a wrong conceptual that the car can get xxx hp easily.....but the fact is the car doesnt last long with that power.

what i am trying to correct you is that i felt you are creating a hype with some uncertain points.

I am not trying to create "hype". I was answering the thread. The question was "is it worth it to turbo a solara?" I am answering "yes" it is based on several tuners that are finding out just how well engineered the 2az is. The 1 mz can take arond 4 psi before it becomes dangerous. The 2az has proven itself reliable @ at least 8 psi. The point I was trying to make is that it is worth is (subjective obviously) to put a few grand in a turbo kit and tuning that will net about 250 to the wheels. The anser to the reliablity question is pretty clear. There are lots of tCs that are reliably daily driven @ 8 psi with no problems. The only problem that I've heard of is a turbo blew because the oil return line was kinked. Im just trying to give information and I always research before I spout. Ive got gobs of research.

Most reputable tuning shops can build you a custom kit with off-the-shelf components. Would it be worth the cash for a V6 custom kit?? Maybe not.

You talking about the 1mz or the 2az? If your talking about the 2az...no worries. Just get a ZPI stage 0 with a front mount and emanage. You'll be around 260 at the wheels
