0-60 SE Sport V6 for 2004+

Does anyone have any information on a 0-60 figure for the SE Sport V6?

I've looked all over, but all I came up with was 7.1 seconds. That's pretty crappy, considering my 99 V6 would do the same (when new anyway). I would think that the 25 extra HP would do a little more than that?

I think one the big car magazines had a quote saying "0 to 60 in under 7 seconds". Maybe Car & Driver?

No car magazine ever gave the 99 V6 a speed of 0-60 of 7.1 seconds. I've owned a 99 and have an 04 and can feel the difference. The 04 got high sixes in a couple magazines which is quite a bit faster than what the 99 got (7.5 seconds).

Motortrend originally gave the '04 SE Sport V6 a 0-60 of 6.8 seconds. I've seen many mags that simply say "under 7 seconds", and I have seen the mags that say "7.1 seconds", however I'd be more prone to believe the 6.8... I also heard from someone on this site that Motortrend retested the newer Solara (with the tranny lag fix) and got 6.6 seconds outta it... That seems a bit low to me, but I did feel a drastic difference when I pulled outta the Toyota lot after the fix...

Considering the Gen 1 Solaras were rated as low as 7 seconds flat, and weigh 3300lbs @ 200hp (198hp SAE) that's 16.5 lbs per hp (assuming the car really is that light and using the 200hp rating). The Gen 2 Solaras are rated at 3450lbs @ 225hp (with the newer SAE rating), which is 15.33lbs per hp, a SUBSTANTIAL improvement. Also to be considered is that the torque is up from 212 ft/lbs to 240 ft/lbs...

Someone will have to provide proof of that 7 second rating as I do not believe it. I remember seeing 7.5 as best number right before I bought one. The only possible 7 second rating was the Gen1 V6 with the manual transmission. The GEN2 is faster or as fast as the Gen1 or 1.5 with manual and only the Gen1/1.5 with turbo is faster.

I can varify the 7 second rating; it is for the 1999 SE V6 manual from Car & Driver, September, 1998 issue. The Gen 2 is definitely quicker though (as I said, I've seen 6.8 second ratings with my own eyes from Motortrend, and I have heard as low as 6.6 seconds from others).

Just like I said, it was manual transmission, the 99 auto was mid 7's at best. Can't compare apples and oranges (manual and auto transmissions).

Still nice to see that we're supposedly quicker than the previous generation's V6 manual ;-)

The best time I got from my SLE was 6.85, and that was not under ideal conditions. The time was registered with a Beltronics Vector FX2 accelerometer. I could have probably squeezed a couple more tenths out of it since my shifts were not perfect (I hit the rev limiter on one shift), but the car is certainly capable of going sub-7 seconds.

An auto convertible? (no SLE stick) Must have been some downhill action.
My timeslips from the track have me <70 mph in 10+ sec (1/8 mile mark). Tho the shift to third happens at like 57 mph. Gotta say that <7 to 60 seems a stretch. This was after the reflash too. I'm sure a manual V6 could do it though. Auto shifts are so mushy so having 2 shifts to 60 really blows the time.

I have little question the coupe could do a 6.85... but the convertible has a solid buck fifty (150lbs) on the coupe, which is essentially a 15hp loss...

Yep, that was in the Auto SLE Convertible, and no, it wasn't on a downhill, it was on a straight, level road (we're about as flat as it gets down here, in South Texas). I was, however, shifting manually. The ECU does not have particularly good shift points, so doing it manually is much better. You can get really good 0-60 times if you get to 60 before shifting into 3rd gear AND using the throttle sensibly. If you just floor it, you will be off 0.5 - 1 seconds, or even more.

The time wasn't a fluke either; my second best time was 6.92.

Hmmm. I'll have to bum an accelerometer next time I go to the track to figure out the 60 time. I wish cp-e left the shift kit in for me last year. Josh said it rocked but they had to reverse the changes until next time.
