Winter wheel question

Winter wheel question

Does anyone run 16" wheels in the winter? The wheels that came with my car are 18"s and the tires suck in the snow, and it's time to take the chromies off so I need to make a decision. I can get the wheels for free so I'd just have to buy tires. I was thinking 205/60 or 215/60. Would that work?

Yes, the stock size 16" wheels are 205/60 16. The thinner tire will help you dig/bite through the snow better. Usually when you go with a wider tire the tire will have a tendency to float on top of the snow. Are you going for winter tires or just the standard All-season tire route? Also is this a GEN1 or GEN2?

Be careful...I just went through the same thing with my 06 SLE. Factory wheels are 17" and I found out 16" WON'T FIT because of brakes. You best check it out first.

Snow tires

I run 225/40 18 during the nicer season on Yoko Avid H4s and 205/60 16 during the winter on Michelin (when they wear out Im going to replace them with 16" Yoko Avids as well. Jon.
