UPDATE ON CLOSED LOOP TUNING BOX FROM URDUSA

Postby gman » Fri Nov 25, 2005 8:18 pm

BUMP

Ok this is worth the 200 bucks!! It took about 2 hours to install (since this was the first URD sold for a Sol/Camry) and another 2hours to rough tune. It is WAS indeed what I was hoping. This car pulls real hard now without a downshift. From 60-90mph takes little time and less effort. I now do not need to throttle down hard to get it to jump into open loop and get to the power I want, powers is there in CLOSED! It will save wear and tear and now (with some care and attention) I can lean out my idle and light throttle #s a little to get some better gas milage. This comes only with scrutiny of using the WBO2 since now One has control of the entire closed loop map to adjust afrs. Before the ECU monitored and intervened automatically to keep as close to 14.7 as it could. So remember if you are going to do this mod.....you need a WBO2 to be able read air/fuel ratios (SO BE CAREFUL). This car is now even more fun to drive than ever. I have an automatic- for those guys that have a stick, this could really be cool since you don't have the convenience of an automatic downshift if you throttle up alot. So a pull from 2500 to 4500 in a given gear would feel stronger way earlier and way longer.

Anyway- my 2 cents.

Have fun everyone!

Gerard

Music to my ears. Funny, I had just done exhaust work and some other minor maintenance stuff and was taking a break before installing the ESC1 when I logged on and saw you had just installed yours. So I got off my a** and put it in and reinstalled the LM-1. Unfortunately, I am too tired to test and tune. I'm excited now about this again and hope to have some positive feedback to give everyone too. Thanks gman for the update.

Cool. Good for you. It is a little tiring at times the effort needed to obtain and then maintain this HP in a Sol/Camry. But it is rewarding who you can beat on and run with on the road.
BTW- I wish I were in HI. right now, woke up to 18 degrees.

Look forward to hearing your outcome.

Its not that bad man.... once I get my s/c in, we'll have to meet up. I could benefit from your experience, and I think I have a few buddies who can help you out as well.
