I replaced mine with Dunlop Wintersport M3s and I am very happy with them. But I expect to drive a lot in now this winter...

Best tire I have ever owned after having Michelin, Pirelli, Goodyear, Bridgestone, Firestone, Dunlop, etc is the Yokohama Avid H4. Jon.

I have to replace my Turanza's too. 5/32" left as of my oil change yesterday. There's an article in a recent R&T (or was it C&D) that rates tires. Michelin Sport is rated pretty high for both wet and dry roads, a good compromise.

Now if I could just afford a new set of rubber . . .

I would go with Michelin Sport AS; they are exceptional well both on wet & dry as well as exceptionally comfortable tire at that extreme performance. Unfortunately they do not have the OE size; and I do prefer the OE size as I need the clearance for tire chains (I go skiing in winters and have to pass chain control area).


My (OE performance package) Toyos were replaced by the Michelin MXV4 S6 a few months ago. Comparing the two, I would say performance wise as for cornering etc are comparable. At the same time you can feel the MXV4 is a typical passenger tire as it has less noise and is softer (makes the car a bit bouncy). Typically, automotive websites will classified this tire in passenger luxury segment. In my opinion the MXV4 S6 would be an upgrade in both comfort and performance (not in extreme but in a good measure) compare to the Turanza. Furthermore this MXV4 is known for long lasting mileage; I do expect they last ~ 3x longer than the Toyos or Turanza (not necessary all in Solara, but I’ve experience using all three tires in the past).

the turanzas that came with the car sucks, after i wore out my tires on that car i bought my yokohama avons ultra high performance. I havnt had any problems with them yet and they handle perfectly fine for me

Just got Yokohama Avid V4s on my ride. Had them siped too, for better traction. Ride is nice, I can take those corners again without slipping

Tread rating of 730, 80,000 mile warranty, $80 off on rebate and using Goodyear card to buy, top ratings in ice, snow, rain, and dry and corners well. Tirerack gives more superior ratings in their tests than any other tire for OEM replacement.
