Just bought second Solara convertible
While looking for a SUV, my wife and I had settled on the Highlander as our pick to replace our Lincloln LS. The moment we saw a red 2004 Solara SE with a black top unloaded from the hauler we changed our minds. The SE was well equipped with an upgrade package including the premium radio and other features, and it was delivered with the accessary windscreen in place. We had leather seat covers installed and greatly enjoyed this fine little car - the first convertible for either of us.
In early October 2005 a poor fellow in a pick up truck had his steering come adrift and veered directly at us on a narrow two-lane road. We ran into the ditch to avoid a head-on collision, but his truck heavily sideswiped us even after we were off the road. The air bags, the side intrusion beams, and seat belts did their jobs and we were not seriously injured but our beloved Solara was totaled.
We now faced the decision on what to buy to replace that car. As a testimony to how well we liked the brand and model, we strarted looking for an exact dulicate 2006 Solara. It took some doing but we finally found a dealer who could get us a red 2006 SLE with the black top. We are enjoying the new car in the week we have had it, and we look forward to more top down miles.
I am glad to have found this forum since it seems to be a very good resource for improving the Solara ownership experience.
