Does anyone know who makes the tops for Toyota? Someone thought mine needed more color while I was on vacation and poured purple fingernail polish on it. Needless to say it won't come off. The cost of a new top trom Toyota is $2394.69. The cost for an aftermarket one is $766. The people at the shop said its probably the same top, that there are only about 4 companies that make tops for new cars. If its the same one, theres a pretty good cost savings going aftermarket.

Thanks for your help

Is it a big big stain? What are the overall sizes of the stain(s) in inches? Perhaps you can take it to a upholster / custom covt top cloth guy and for a few hundred just patch it up... err repair it.

I will call my contacts in Toyota Purchasing and see if I can find out the manufacturer's name. I will get back to you late Monday or Tuesday.

BTW: Will insurance pay for it? Get the dealer's quote and negotiate with the adjuster. Then go aftermarket if the same.

Yes, the insurance is going to cover it. I talked to the adjuster and told him I would like to take it to the dealer because it's so new (2005) and he said thats ok, he understands. When I took it to the dealer they said they don't work on convertible tops and sent me to a very good shop here. The quote for a Toyota top was $2970 installed and the insurance company didn't even question it, just approved it the next day. I have $100 deductible so thats all it will cost me. Now I'm just waiting for the top to come in.

As for how much they put on it, oneplace it was a rough circle about two feet in diameter and another was a line about two feet long.
