CP-E intake and headers

CP-E intake and headers

Postby Biggi_e » Mon Oct 31, 2005 2:12 pm

i was thinking about purchasing the injen shrot ram intake but now im leaning towards the MAFci system intake for my gen 2 v6 sle and i just want to get some feedback from others that have the MAFci system and what they think about it? also if we can get enough people out hopefully they will make headers for the gen2 solara.

If anyone can please give me some feedback asap on the MAFci system i would appreciate it. Thank you

I'm gonna be picking up the CP-e soon... I'll let ya know how it is. Meanwhile, there are a few "reviews" in the thread below.

cp-e all the way

Postby drace99 » Mon Oct 31, 2005 4:04 pm

Hi,

Please check out previous posts on this subject...I just installed my cp-e intake with maf customizer. I noticed a definate inprovement in performance as well as sound. I also notice that the car responds much better. The best way I can describe the difference in performance is like a turbo was installed. Definately a noticable difference. I can not imagine driving without it!!! Well worth the money and the wait!!!
If you are in Nj or surrounding areas let me know I will meet you and you can see for yourself. Better yet just spend the money you will not be dissapointed!!!

First post has the number to call to order. They are going to a trade show soon (maybe this week) so leave your number and they'll call you back.

They will be closed for the rest of the week. They will be at the SEMA show in Las Vegas, and they will re-open next week on Monday.

Mine's in the mail. Guess what I'll be doing this weekend ?

Oh yeah, Josh mentioned that they're working on a MAFci for the Gen 1 as well, and they might have it ready by the end of the month. Apparently it makes an extra 17HP ...

Yeah... I thought they learned from the Gen 2 not to release the stats until they can sell the kit. They must be close if they're telling folks.

Oops, I didn't know it was a secret; well, at least he didn't ask me to keep it confidential. Since he mentioned 17HP, I'm assuming they're done with testing. The number is too precise to be a ballpark number.

They were done testing a while ago but wanted to release dyno charts and pricing once the kits were powder coated. I guess Josh forgot to mention that or it's close enough that he doesn't care. Pipes were sent out for PC last week so they should have the package ready for sale pretty soon after their return from Vegas. So any Gen 1 guys reading the Gen 2 forum... you just got a sneak peak!

They have the tuning setup to put the Gen 2 3.5" pipe in the Gen 1. Only hitch is that it's tuned for just that mod. If you have headers or other performance mods, you'd have to get the programmable customizer and tweak the a/f mix map yourself.

If there's enough folks interested in a particular tune (i.e. a TRD mod) then they would take in a donor and make a chip for that config.

Wow, that's cool. I'm still wondering how this will compare to what I've got.

Hmm...
Well obviously the air ain't cold. Not sure how much of an effect that has in HP.
Unless you're exceeding the limits of the stock MAF with boost, I don't see the bonus in replacing it unless stock has a restrictive design. (am I missing something?)
The "Customizer" is basically the same as an AFC that's been tuned for the car by cp-e with there very high tech gear. So you get the mixture that gives you the most power at the rpm. (Gen 2 was way too rich) $99 gets you a tunable box that you can hook up to a PC and load/tweak maps if you're into such things.
So I guess it should be in the neighborhood except for the cold air on one side, and the fact that cp-e will be 3.5" pipe and filter (33% bigger)
