<wtf does that mean?>

I think the reason I didn't have to pound on them is that I was a walk up. Not that they would have treated anyone else like the big companies, but I think that is a non-issue.
<wtf does that mean?>

The problem was they promised me on at least two occassions to call at a certain time, and they didn't.
<You sound like a woman scorned "He didn't call me :puppydogeyes: ">

BTW, why do you have to get your ECU reflashed? Is that part of this install?
<You obviously weren't ready to start your install Monday if you could ask that, it's probably better that you don't install things on your car.>

1. If you read the Mazda forums, you'll see that cp-e bends over backwards for their customers. I think you got pretty damned nice service there. And to bitch about the time they showed is pretty petty. They drove it to your door! Who does that? Apparently you have pretty high standards and are hard to please... fine. I had a wife like you once. 8) i.e I'm told that you didn't like the looks of their shop? I posted pics of the shop months ago and everyone else was suitably impressed.

2. There's only two screws in the MAF sensor not four. Didn't want to mention it before but I now get the feeling that the fish story's getting bigger. We get it... you're not a customer... move on.

3. Duh... My ECU was reflashed for the TSB. Love it BTW.

Yeesh, you're getting pretty testy. Try decaffeinated.

You said the sensor only needs two screws, but THEY said it needs 4 screws. THEY said it, not me. And they tried to send 4 in the envelope that got shredded.

They never delivered the part to me. They said they would call at 9am, and I told them it was important otherwise my car would be undriveable. They called me at 4:30pm and laughed at my consternation.

In any event, I haven't said anything negative about them or their shop, just that I got queered on the deal by them saying they would do some things and then not doing them. I didn't lke the old sofas in the offices since there was a dog laying around and I am allergic to dogs. That's why I didn't want to see their shop. It looked nice enough to me. No need to slam me on half the facts.

I think it was great that they were accomodating about the return, especially since there were electronic parts in there that I might have fried. No other shop will take back electronics (usually) so that was nice of them and I told them so.

Anyway, I have no hard feelings. Sorry you do. And I was just asking a simple question about the ECM. No need to get testy.

No big... just hate seeing guys busting their butts just to get bad press over a picky customer. They are engineers you know. I doubt Anthony "laughed" at you. Probably just a miscom. All three are polite and respectful and being ex-Navy, I'm the first to call a punk a punk.
Anyway... I hope you're either happy w/ your car w/o the intake or maybe wait for some more feedback from SGs and reconsider.

Well, please don't misunderstand, they were very nice and professional. I told them I would watch for more products and reconsider the intake at a later time. Given the expense and circumstances, I just didn't want to go through with it at this time. Consider it a utility argument.

We left the transaction on very good terms, and I have not written these guys off.

And I appreciate you taking the initiative in getting this thing to market with them.

<< Tense Moment passed ... >> :o

I'm glad you two worked things out in a very mature manner. I think miscommunication was the theme here on many levels. (This is on behalf of everyone.)

The guys at cp-e really seem to know their stuff. I've seen (and experienced) their product first hand and I'm impressed. If they ever turn into a large manufacturer, look out Injen!

I'd encourage the next person to order one to write up a small review (w/ pics) of the product. I'm sure you won't be dissapointed.

Some are out there... just waiting for someone to install. When you guys get to it, tag me if you need any clarification or pics or tips, etc. I have a copy of the tunable instructions so I haven't seen what you get. Pretty much the Injen tutorial with the customizer stuff added on. Should be quick and easy.

Installed

Postby drace99 » Fri Oct 28, 2005 7:24 am

I installed my CP-E intake yesterday, and all I have to say is WOW, totally worth the wait! I definately notice a BIG difference. It feels like the car has turbo or something. I do not know much about horsepower, but it feels way more than 10 hp. I highly recommend the cp-e intake with the maf customizer. Awesome power response, awesome sound and relatively easy install (less than 3 hours from start to clean-up). I would be glad to answer any questions and let anyone in NJ or surrounding areas to see/hear/drive it!!! I love the car again!!!

That's wonderful to hear. Great job and thanks for giving us your honest opinion.

I too got first hand at driving the Michael's (down2thec) drop top w/ cpe's intake and it has a great GROWL...it's hard for me to tell a difference since the top was down. I'd love to go head to head w/ a cpe intake because I've got the Injen one and it's quite nice as well. Any takers??? :wink:

Great news man! Keep an eye on that mileage. I'm thinking i'm getting 2mpg better with it in despite gunning her all the time. (And lets face it... when you have that sound, you end up in the >3kRPM range a lot more often)

I might be passing by this winter if cp-e gives us headers... That should overcome the 150lb difference coupe vs conv. :D
(I know... you need a cp-e coupe to drag.)

$469 and worth it

Postby drace99 » Fri Oct 28, 2005 2:10 pm

The non-tunable intake from CP-E is $469.00 and worth every penny as far as I am concerned. I was seriously contemplating the Injen intake, but I feel that the guys at cp-e had a fellow sg's solara and did a ton of R&D on the car. That is why I Invested the money. Once again I think everyone will be happy with the intake. Let me know if you have any questions.

Well, the TRD muffler alone is $500. With the CP-e intake, you get the growl, significantly more horsepower, and a ton more torque at usable levels (2500-4000RPMs). Not a bad deal...
