rough ride with Eibachs?

rough ride with Eibachs?

Postby Stunnd » Tue Oct 18, 2005 9:47 am

I recently had Eibach pro-kit lowering springs installed. Then I had a four-wheel alignment done. Cornering is amazing but on straightaways the steering wheel SOMETIMES shakes a lot and the car seems to feel the road much more than I thought it would. Is this normal? :bad-words:

If you didn't get aftermarket struts than yes you should feel more of the ground

yeah! lowering your car has nothing to do with shaking......unless you might want to balance you tire......and remember you have to do some alignment after that.....

I used Eibach on my 04.........but I don"t have that problem 8)

I'm running on 17" rims. Probably should have gone with some struts too. The speed shop I went with sucked as far as knowing what he was doing. Shouldn't he have at least brought it to my attention that the ride might be kind of rough without new struts? He also screwed up by not informing me about the rear inner support bar coming out when he put on a body kit. It won't pass inspection without it, unless you can find a shop to pass it as is. Am I expecting too much from this guy? :agrue:

Make sure your bumpstops are cut in half if you feel like you bottom out a lot. If it is a simple question of ride comfort, you'll eventually get used to feeling the road more. After lowering with tein/tokico, I honed my A-game when it comes to dodging road impefections

Shaking or vibration would be due to wheel balance, not suspension. If shaking occurs while braking, you may need to resurface/replace your rotors.

with 17s your car should ride like a stock car since it still has quite a bit of cushion on the tires

What do you mean by "rear inner support bar" when putting on a body kit????

Unfortunately, I believe you shouldve done more research into what you were getting yourself into. Im not trying to put the fault on you, but I mean in terms of the benefits AND downsides to lowering your ride. Theres gotta be reasons why you do things and gota be aware of what its for... yes you can corner, but now you have the shaking.. why? well since you have 17s Im assuming theyre aftermarket wheels so Id suggest you balance your wheels... who knows what the shopguy did to those wheels after he took em off... they are there to just make their money... some are jackasses, others are reputible and helpful

IF you dont want to upgrade your struts yet, maybe look into thicker tires to cushion more of your ride quality.... Id say 215/50/17? I ran on 215/45/17 and those were hella cushion for me lol... but I, and many other members on this board, would say Eibachs have been a well recommended brand for lowering our solaras...

Make sure your lugs are torque to spec cause it might be loose an can causing vibration. . . But yeah w/o struts the car is rougher on the road you will be very bumpy

^^ Not really true. Unless your stock sturts were really bad to begin with. I've got trd's w/ stock struts. My ride is not bumpy and no i don't feel the roads. The only time i notice its lowered when going over pot-holes and/or speed-breakers. I know that in time i will need to change my struts. I've had this set up for the past 24K miles so i speak with experience.

I was told the Eibachs were better than Teins. Could there be that much of a difference? Aren't they both topoftheline?

The inner support bar is the steel reinforcement bar that's attached to the frame. The rear bumper covers it when attached. The ViS rear bumper would not fit on the car without removing the support bar. I found nothing on this issue when looking into bodykits. I didn't even know this bar existed until the shop told me they couldn't put it back on.
