Custom Performance Engineering is now shipping intake kits for the Gen 2. Call the shop to order until they get the website updated. I have a production pipe on the way now so pics of the real thing will be posted soon (unless someone beats me to it.)

Hopefully someone will post a Tutorial once they get the kit. I have some tips to add once they do but the shop installed my proto the first time so someone going straight from the kit would have a better perspective.

P.S. On a personal note, I've reverted to stock so I can get the TSB and I really miss the pipe! She seems so weak and quiet. Can't wait to get the production pipe installed.

It's all V6 for now. If you think the I4 has a market for them, drum up a donor in the MD area for you guys and I'll pitch it to the shop. They took in a Gen1 V6 for proto, why not an I4. They really loved working on the Gen2, it was their first Toyota and they're hooked. Good design, easy access, and better documentation than Mazda and Honda.

well...

Postby mmcdonald » Sun Oct 23, 2005 1:10 pm

These guys are just down the highway from me, so I picked mine up from the CP-e shop on a Thursday.

Saturday morning I received an envelope in the mail that was supposed to contain 4 screws needed to install the MAF on the pipe that they hadn't placed in the kit. Needless to say the envelope was shredded by the sorting machine, so what I got was a shredded envelope with one screw and a sticky saying I would need all 4 for the install.

Saturday afternoon a fella from CP-e called and said he had given me the wrong module for the kit, and that he would be happy to drop it by my house at my convenience. I said if he could call me on Monday at 9am that would be great as I was planning on doing the install then and needed the car by noon or 1pm at the latest for work.

Fortunately I didn't start the install that Monday on a hunch. At 4:30pm the same fella called me. I said "Is it 9am already?!" and he laughed, so I guess he wasn't too concerned.

Needless to say I returned the kit on Tuesday. I have lost confidence in this group.

I hope some buyers have more favorable posts on their installed pipes.

Yeah, Josh told me about that. You picked yours up before they were ready to ship. You got a customizer with the 3" map flashed in it. They assured me that it never would have made it out the door with their usual shipping process. In the future they won't be doing pickups until the first pipes are shipped.

As far as confidence, you do what you feel, but working with any other shop you would have never found the mistake until you ragged for months. With Injen for example, you have the reseller in the middle. It took a SolaraGuy to figure out that the nipples are plugged on all their production pipes and despite being notified of the defect I doubt they've said a word to the customers. I'm sticking with the little guy for now.

I got my production pipe and my ECU is being reflashed today. Can't wait to put it back in. I miss the power and the sound.

Well I did get it "before they were ready to ship," whatever that means. If they weren't ready to ship, then they shouldn't have shipped - to me in person.

And I told them I wanted to take pics and post on this site to help them out, and they still weren't on top of their game.

I think the reason I didn't have to pound on them is that I was a walk up. Not that they would have treated anyone else like the big companies, but I think that is a non-issue.

The problem was they promised me on at least two occassions to call at a certain time, and they didn't.

BTW, why do you have to get your ECU reflashed? Is that part of this install?
