Flashing Brake Light Bulbs

Postby cklinh » Mon Oct 03, 2005 9:06 am

With all the recent talk about parking lights, reverse lights and such, anyone ever try these out for the brake lights? (Although I think they're relatively new, and only available for the actual brake lights, not the third higher one)

http://autolumination.com/dcell.html

Little snippets of information:

-The matrix bulb has leds arranged in both the horizontal and vertical directions. With 18 or 19 powerful 45 degree beam angle LEDS projecting forward, you have as much, or more forward power than any other LED bulb on the market.

-The D-CELL smart technology automatically senses the rate of deceleration when you hit the brakes. During a panic stop, or rapid braking, the D-CELL matrix bulb will strobe brightly 10 times per second for two seconds to warn drivers behind you that you are stopping quickly. The bulb operates like a regular brake light under during normal stops.

-The D-CELL only strobes when you stop rapidly, During a normal stop, the light operates normally, like a regular brake light. This avoids annoying other drivers every time you hit the brakes.

At $20 a pop, I'll wait to see if there are any reviews...

Yes, but that's where the "-The D-CELL only strobes when you stop rapidly, During a normal stop, the light operates normally, like a regular brake light. This avoids annoying other drivers every time you hit the brakes" comes in.

It will depend on the driver, but I only stop rapidly when I need to. And in that case, I don't care if the person behind me is annoyed for that one time. I want him to know that I'm stopping really soon.

During an emergency stop, I really don't care if my flashing blake lights are obtrusive.

Anything that cuts through the mental clutter of the driver behind me is something I'm all for.

which is better, then 1157 that projects directly out, or the 3157 that projects light into the lens reflector? that might be the worst site on the entire web.. it looks like it was put together by a 5 year old
