THe Gen 1 came w/ a full spare... dunno why the USA Gen 2 didn't =[ The 06 GS also has a donut... which really bites... because Lexus has always given a full size =[ (unless you have runflats, which give no spare)

From my experience with other cars (not Toyota), if the timing belt is gone your valves more likely be gone too. I had a Grand Am, and a Mazda Protege, where both timing belts/chain went off, and I'd to make a valve job.
