Drive by wire on 04+?

Drive by wire on 04+?

Just wondering if the Gen 2 Solara's have drive-by-wire like the '03+ accords do? I quickly searched this site and looked at Toyota's site, but didn't see any mention of it.

I currently have a '99 Solara, but am interested in trading up sometime in the next year or so.

Thanks!

the gen 1-1.5 2002-2003 Solara i-4 2az motor is drive by wire.

Also the gen 2 2004+ i-4 2az motor is drive by wire.
I'm not sure about the V6 3mz motor but i think that is drive by throttle cable.

I'm sure jeff can chime in on this....

Thanks for the info, but yeah, the V6 is actually the one I'm interested in. I forgot to specify above.

The 04+ V6 3MZs dont use a drive-by wire/cable. The drive-by "wire" is actually an eletronical component. One which up until June 2005 suffered a lag problem which included jerky shifting in gears 1-2 and a delay in throtlle response. Lexus suffered from this as well. [now there is a fix]. So yeah thats my .02

There's no throttle cable on my car. Electronically controlled pedals on all Gen2 solaras. And yes that is the source of the lag, the code that decides what it means when you move your foot was replaced on the TSB for better "feel".

06a should already come with the TSB done. They put a sticker next to my "tire pressure recommendation" sticker Right by the door.

Drive by wire is not the same as cable connected gas peddle. Drive by wire means it uses an electronically controlled peddle.
