Guaging Interest on 2az turbo kits

If you are looking for a kit or would like one and have a 2az solara, let me know. If I can prove there is a market, then magic may happen.

I am in talks with ZPI racing (Edited). ZPI said that they would need an extremely huge market to attempt to tackle CARB. If you Cali guys/gals want in, it will be "off road use only"

This is a two stage kit:
Stage 0 is $2,850 and will get about 230 whp/230wtq @ 6psi.
Add an intercooler to stage 0 and it will achieve 247 whp/ 257 wtq @ 6.5 psi

Stage 1 is $4,550 and will get you 300/300 +or- @ 10 psi

I know this should prolly go in FI section but this section seems to have more traffic and it technically is an aftermarket so if it must be moved...so be it
Anyways, Ill update this thread with names...

1. Me
2. stupidrunner54
3. Dimik

Here are some pics of their work, this is stage 0 with Cerma Chromed pipes I think its $250 for the option

Are the TC kits a bolt on to the Solara? Have they come out yet? How much would it cost to do all this and is it legal in Cail?

Count me in too! Hopefully they make it but if not i'll just go with the above.

Damn, so its not Carb legal in Cali but its legal for the TC? Are there any legal way to make our 2az-fe's quicker. I have read so much positive remarks about this engine and I can't see why not?

to answer all questions:

The kit is a ZPI staged kit. It is not CARB legal nor are there any plans to make it CARB. Gains are big as krazy said.

Stage 0:
$2,850
6 psi
230 wheel hp and 230 wheel torque (edited for incorrect numbers)
257/247 was with boost set at 6.5 and with an optional intercooler not included in stage 0

Stage 1:
$4,550
10 psi
300 + hp to the wheels
http://www.thescionstore.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=TSS&Product_Code=ZS1TK18&Category_Code=FIND

dyno of stage 0

I was reading about our engines and actually saw that our internels are forged metels! Is that true? or is that just for the TC's engines only?

6.5psi and gain over 100hp on the wheel? it is my first time to hear such huge gain over the little boost. kinda too good to be true because thats means you had about 290hp on the crank.

someone try it!

Not sure if they are forged but most toyota internals are strong from the factory as Toyota wants the ability to sell superchargers for every car and still honor the factory warranty. That being said and based on the boost levels ive seen in the tC 2az we might actually have forged internals but I doubt it. We probably just have strong internals. When the 2az-fe solara came out, I'm not sure if Toyota planned on supplying a super charger for the 2az. When the tC was produced, Toyota had and I guess still has every intention on producing a supercharger for it so the tC might have forged and we don't but that is unlikley in my opinion.

I will, I just need some more people on board so ZPI will make the piping. I can probably buy the kit and get someone to make some piping and an intercooler for me custom, but two things about that are kinda crappy:
1. I would have to pay an arm, a leg, and an ass for the fabrication on top of the turbo kit and I'm not willing to go there right now.

2. Since the pipes would be custom for me, no other solara would reap the benefits.

If I can gain some interest and convince ZPI there is a market for it (even though its not as big as the tC's) they will make the pipes and engine management for us becasue it wouldnt be that expensive for them to fab pipes and an intercooler plus they would just use e-manage and tune me on the dyno and then sell the pre-tuned emanage for all the other solara's

Then the $2,850 price includes the solara pipes, intercooler, and the pre-tuned emanage and everything
