HID lights

get the HIDs (H11, i think D2S <-- can somebody verify?)

read the manual on how to replace the low beam

take the factory bulb out, reverse the instruction to put the HID bulb in

make sure you don't touch the HID bulb with your fingers.

plug the power cord in, make sure everything are secured (zip tie, double sided tape, etc) and there's no lose wires.

turn it on to test it.

the installation won't affact the factory aim of the beam. but i adjust it to lower the beam.

and enjoy. :)

Adding to that. . . Make sure the ballast DOESN'T touch any metal or else your HID will be on everytime you turn on the car no matter what

HID

Postby sydemoid » Wed Oct 19, 2005 7:05 pm

I got both my headlights, and foglights done, 8500k for the headlights, 8000k for the fogs, the light output is crazy, not a focused beam like projectors, but the light is dispersed far and wide, enough to really help when driving in extreme darkness.

The foglight upgrade has definitely made a big difference in the pattern of the light beam. lemme put it like this:

With regular halogens you can see ok... with halogen fogs, you see a little better...

Now, you have 2-3 times the light output.... with fogs putting out the same....

I chose 8500k for the headlights for a skyblue color, the fogs were labeled 8000k, but are purpleish... they might be 9000k...

Ill post pix up soon..

nah

I didnt have to aim nada.... :drinking:

The bulbs are H4 and 9006 retrofitted, so there is no glare, just good ol' brightness.

I am off on saturday, so I will take piks on friday night, so you guys can see what Im talkin bout.

P.S. the headlight kit cost me $450 installed professionally.

the fogs I actually got lucky.. went to a junkyard, found some old X5 ballasts, and retrofitted them to the bulbs.... that totaled at $150 after bulbs, and ballast.

he he

is it a rebase? or retrofit?

i thought retrofit is with the lens and everything?

still wanna see some pix :D

i thought glare is more about the reflector/lens then what kind of bulb

the bulbs are rebased DS2 I forgot if DS2S or DS2R...

there isnt any glare, the trajectory of the light is quite low from the headlights, the fogs help in the immidiate lateral and short distance line of sight.

both my bulb kits fit perfectly in the stock housings, no mods, no fuss.

I've had mines from SPW zindustries. But I don't think that they make them anymore. These were Philips HID Plus 4300k. Plus meaning that the bulb has already made the color shift.
