These are the numbers I got from one trip today:

I wrote down the numbers from the little display on the dash:

30.1 mph

37.1 mpg

it was city and highway combined. I can't believe I got that high in gas milage driving the solara. That is almost better than the gas milage of the new civic (not the si)

Hmm... yeah, you should be getting more than 21mpg during break-in... Hahaha hell, you should really be getting more than that period with the 4 banger... I average around 21-22mpg with my V6 and I'm the type who doesn't like being passed ;-) If you're often in stop and go traffic, or like to make quick starts (even keeping it below 3k rpm) those would come into play as well...

Eh, that's not necessarily true... When you're on the open road a lot it doesn't really matter how you treat it... I get around 25mpg with the V6 when I throw some highways into my travel... during my trip down to the Outer Banks, NC I averaged just under 34mpg (33.7mpg) with some heavy footing and many spirts of well over 90mph (trust me, I was BY NO MEANS focusing on being fuel efficient)... That's around a 5 hour trip from Northern VA with a couple stops... All of it was on open highway with little traffic (I fueled just before I left).

WTF? :o I have a 4 banger 5spd and my average is only 22.1!!!!!! But then again, I don't do any freeway driving, and I'm a crazy lead foot  but still, 17 mpg difference?! Can't believe it!! I guess this dispells the myth that you get better mpg if you have a manual tranny huh?

^^^ all depends on your driving.. whether it is all city miles or highway miles.... mine gets great mileage.. about 28-30mpg... when I go on long trips.. its more like 35-36mph... and yes I sometimes have a heavy foot... so the mpg does on occasion vary..
