Who cares what these reviewers say, NO one had a say in what I wanted to buy. So, when you all went to look for a car, do you base it on what someone else says or what magazine articles say? I don't think so. We are all biased in our opinions on what makes a car good enough for us.

Just be proud you had a choice in picking the car you really wanted, because many people don't have a choice in the car they really want or worse, they can't even afford one...

AMEN BROTHER!!
whether you have a Gen1(.5) or Gen2 you had the choice in the car you got, color, engine type,... and yeah I'm sure most of the owners have added or are planning to add mods.. but still you had the choice in the car you got.. just because some bloated guy that sits in some small cubicle in a stuffy office wrote something about a car he has never driven doesnt mean he is going to influence me on what car I drive.. for all you know the guy that wrote the article drives a YUGO......

All I'm saying is that I use reviews like that for facts, NOT OPINIONS. A good reviewer backs up his comments with solid, tested, and material facts. You have to be really ignorant to be defending this writer just because you agree with him.

Seems like everyone agrees that everyone has their own opinions and wouldn't have bought the car if they weren't happy with just about every aspect of it (20k+ on a car isnt going to be an easy decision). Who cares if your cousin's friend's brother's dog sitter doesn't like what your car looks like? I don't.

OMG quick, get out the blue book!

How can I live with my purchase now that somebody wrote a negative article? Oh yeah, because of the enjoyment and compliments it brings me. Hate on... these people probably loved the PT Cruiser.

LOL, who cares about a writer's personal opinions of a particular car? All I care about are the facts and whether I like the car. I think the 2nd generation Solara is a gorgeous car from most angles but I absolutely hate the design from a couple of viewpoints such as this one:

Wow ok...looks like I touched off a soft spot here.

The only reason I pointed it out is that I've never seen any solara any gen refered to as "ugly" before. Actually I've never heard it in conjunction with any car (except maybe the Aztek, which I dont even think is so bad). And that is expecially a strong word for a one line review, and for any reviewer who should remain somewhat...objective. I personally do not think the Gen2 is "ugly", but even if I did, Id be pretty surprised to see a reviewer write "ugly" in a one line summary of the car.

So yea, the point was not whether you guys though it was ugly or not or to quabble over whos opinion is "right", I was just very surprised to see the word "Ugly", which is a strong subjective word, attributed to any car in a public "professional" overview, let alone a solara. You hear words like that in a forum, and its too be expected, but in a large national magazine like Motor Trend...well its pretty unprofessional and caught me offguard.

HERE IS THE MAG REVIEW........

Postby joebxr » Thu Sep 08, 2005 2:16 pm

Quoted from Pg 128 of October issue of MOTORTREND:
"Modest upgrades distinguish the 2006 coupe and convertible, which return in base, SE, SLE, and performance-oriented SE Sport trims. All four-cylinder versions of this Camry-based two-door now get the same five-speed sequential automatic transmission as the V-6 variants, while SE and SE Sport versions add a power lumbar support for the driver's seat. A generous roster of stnadrads plus options like leather upholstery, DVD-based navigation, and satellite radio add even more luster to hard-and softop versions.
[] IT MAY BE UGLY, BUT IT SURE IS EXPENSIVE"

Then they give it 2 Stars
-----------------------------

The AVALON is given 4 stars with comment "IT'S LIKE THE BUICK GM NEVER BUILT"

Now, the review for the new Chevy HHR is given 3 stars and the following summary comment:
"AT LAST! CHEVY DOES A NON-BORING SMALL CAR" Yea, right...get a grip Dude!!!!!!

I believe my subscription money is wasted on these guys!!!!

Motor Trend on the Chrysler PT Loser:
"Delivering on the promise of the original styling study vehicle, the production version offers a new interpretation of cool, boasting styling cues that celebrate American custom car heritage."

Motor Trend on the Dodge NEON:
Road Test: 2000 Dodge Neon
By Jack Keebler
Motor Trend, October 1999

Beauty is rare in small sedans. Designers have trouble with the short lines and tallish cabins dictated by people packaging. Indeed, most little cars have a utilitarian ugliness that, at best, comes across as a pathetic cuteness. Think Citroën 2CV or even Dodge Omni. In contrast, we have the sleekly elfin 2000 Dodge Neon. Never again should you accept an automobile tagged too inexpensive to be artfully executed. Its smart styling aside, how does this new-generation model drive? Short answer: pretty darn well. Like the original, it has a strong engine, powerful brakes, and a quite solid, if simple, chassis layout. But there have been plenty of improvements in this all-new model.

Wow! I gotta sell my Solara now and get me a 2000 Dodge Neon. I wonder which color the writer prefers? Lime green, maybe?
