I need your opinions!!! SE SPORT or LEATHER??? Pick one!!!

I got the SE V6 .. you can always add leather later..but I would hold off on the leather.. My acura has leather and when it gets old of if it tears its a pain to replace. but the SE package is the way to go..

IMO give up the SE Sport and settle for a SE V6 instead. Besides, you can just end up dropping the car with the TRD springs later on.

Struts on the SE Sport are different as well.. not just the springs... The V6 is definitely worth getting, but you lose a good portion of stuff in it's place if you're only willing to go to $21k... Have you considered, perhaps, getting a low milage used 2004 (or even 2005) Solara SE Sport V6? If you get it from a Toyota dealer, the warranty is actually BETTER on used vehicles... Just a consideration... Any way you look at it there's some sort of compromise at that price...

okay guys, thanks so much.

I just received an internet fleet quote from Longo Toyota. I am not happy:

$21, 315 for a 2006 Solara SE SPORT "standard equip". No tax, no license.

the MSRP is $21,025 on toyota's website! How the hell can they ask for $21,315 ?!!??!

On a side note, Buena Park Toyota offered me $21,600 for their 2006 SE SPORT WITH leather!!
so i'm thinking if the take out that leather (worth $1400), then i can sure get it out the door for the MSRP of $21,025 on toyota's site.

i dunno, we'll see guys.... a couple of days more to go till Labor Day!

No offense but you will be taken advantage of if you do not negotiate. Dealers love people that will pay whatever their asking price is. Negotiate via e-mail; I guarantee you that you will get a better price by negotiating than by waiting for the Labor Day "sale."
Moved on to better things...

what you do wrong is asking how much is it?

what you should do is giving your offer, say, I am ready to buy the car and I have $2XXXX budget. I want to know if i can get the v6 se sport out of door with that price in xxx color. If you can do it, please contact me, otherwise dont bother me.

that is the fishing technique!

SE Sport V-6. This is what you want. Shaving here and there will just get you to compromise on the car you really want. If you have to ... wait! Yes! Mom and Dad will respect your decision. Save some bones up to get the car you want. In the mean time, look for an '05 that's still on the lot. (It'll be hard since '06s went on sale at the end of last spring) Some dealer will cave in. Also, some dealers are willing to push a car at the end of the month as opposed to the beginning. (Like Labor day) Some salesmen get bonuses based on the number of cars sold in a month.

ookie dokes . You got a good point there PhreakdOUt about the end of month sale. Very true.

but yea, i mean, i can get a super good deal on the 2005..but i really want the 2006 because its a 5 speed tranny! instead of the 2005's 4 speed...

also, like i said, i CAN"T get a V6. I mean i'd love to, but after hearing the gas mileages... it is very depressing. 19MPG hardcore driving and 24mpg casual.... i dunt think i can live with that.

i commute everyday over 60 miles to and from school...... gas prices in CA have sky rocketed to nearly $3.00 / gallon this past weekend.

nonetheless, i did test drive the 2006 solara se sport i4 twice at two different dealers. its got enough kick for me...

i'm still a college student... :(

LMAO!! Good things come to those who wait. Be patient. Toyota won't run out of Solaras a month from now. In fact, here's a tease, the Gen 2.5 gets the Avalon 3.5L. (280Hp) That comes out next year. There's nothing worse that settling for a car because you want it now. You'll spend your days drooling over other people's rides instead of yours. Figure out what you really want, and make the plan to get it. Take a second job, or third. Become a male prostitute. Whatever, just don't torture yourself later.

To all the Gen2 I-4 owners out there, there's nothing wrong with the 4cyl. With headers and a supercharger available for the tC, there's potential to modify those parts to work on the Solara. Us V-6 guys are just stuck. My point is be happy with what you get. If you're not, you should have waited and got what you wanted in the first place.

As for the mileage; it all depends on how you drive and the traffic. I got an amazing 30 mpg coming back from Cincinnatti last week. (The first time I tried to stretch it.) Not bad for a V-6.

Peace and best of luck to 'ya!

aww.. come on, don't bring this in on me. This is like a comment half the ppl would say on Honda-Tech (bunch of neglected kids) all up in my face for having the privilege of buying a "22 thousand dollar" car.

for your information, i currently work 63 hours a week okay!? i work two jobs! Not only that, I'm a 4th year electrical engineering and also interning at a MULTI-billion dollar japanese corporation (paid internship :) and I'm also working part-time at GNC (general nutrition center).

All the money I have worked for this summer will be going down as a down payment..(approximately $11 grand)...when i graduate, i will repay my parents a portion back.

So please, hush, before this turns into another "Honda-Tech" flaming... I asked the same quesiton there, and I got nothing but dis-respect because the kids over there are, how should I say this, "jealous" ? because mommy and daddy are willing to buy me a new car?!?

so what, more than half the humans on the face of this planet live on less than a dollar a day? life ain't fair..so whats the point?

paris hilton probably spends ten thousand dollars a day on make up and "Gucci" or "Versace" toilet paper ... so what!?

you don't know the story...
