I don't know how many of you guys would remember Steven Chung (Schung07 for you old-school SC3 heads)'s TWS grill, but I am one of the few with this grill on my car. I have no idea or do I know how to contact Steve, but if someone is willing to make a mold of some sort, I'd be willing to comply. Let me know.ImageImage

sorry bout the size..i wont take high res pics when i plan on posting next time..

this is an elipse pattern which is nice but typical..i made a design w/ interlocking triangles which i am going to punch out tomorrow..i can guarantee you never have seen a grille w/ this design..it will either look great or horrible..stay tuned!

some pics
punched out no paint no mounting tabs..304 stainless steel

painted

after fitment is determined, mounting tab location will be placed and incorporated into the part. If i had more time to work on this at work i would be done but my time is limited so a few more weeks, maybe 2, will see the first complete grill

still waiting for the trd emblems and grilles to chop up for the frames.

Hey,

I love the look of that mesh. Would you be willing to sell these when your done? I was looking at picking up the SPW grills, its just a plain grill, I'd love a custom one done.

I was talking to some friends who do some fabrication, and the grill we came up with was to not copy, but make either a "TRD" or "S" raised from the grill. Not to make it look like the superman symbol, but at a little slant to the left so the "S" looks more towards a 45 degree angle to the left. Either symbol we would go with was going to be at a little angle....

Would you be able to do something like that? I've seen my friend's work and it looks like an amature did it so I want someone else to do it.

Let me know either way!

thats an idea..those look like they fit right over the existing "slots"

that would save a ton of fabrication time..thanks for that picture i think this project just took another turn

as for the design..yes that pattern is ok but waiti till i finish a couple more patterns..this was the most "plain" of the three i designed

I would like to see how a "herrinbone" style looks...

yes after all this work i will be offering a limited number of kits for the gen 1 solaras..this idea in the above picture seems like the easiest way to go ..and the cheapest..i am planning on making the insert style that will fit over the stocker like the pic above..along w/ bottom inserts to match the top.

i also will have some screens that will fit into the frame itself after the center has been removed but this is alot of work and may not justify the ends..

when i know for sure this will be possible to fit "perfectly" i will post the price etc...

i will not offer the grill kits unless i can get the fitment perfect as i hate that diy look..it has got to look like it was made for the car specifically and not just cut out by hand

while that pic above is nice i can see a seem between the grille and the frame..this is not acceptable to me..i wish i could make my own frames like mike? did w/ gen 2 grilles but that would require another project which i dont have time nor money to invest into..

good news..the fitment for this type is going well. it is a much easier proccess than trying to "fill" the frame with a grille. Image

for the other style i may just cut the center toyota symbol and chrome strips off the "bars" and cover w/ a whole pc rather than 2 pcs..this also would yeild a much cleaner look as you have the slots to support the grill and support it in the correct position..

posting pics in a few hours of the first attempt at the style above..again thank you for this picture it is saving me alot of work and time....

Not sure if you plan on installing that or not, but that mesh DEFINATELY will not fit... theres a bit of a curviture (sp?) along the top portion of the mesh...

i know this since i fukkd up one mesh i cut out... its NOT straight.... good luck
