Lighter fell inside emergency brake compartment

Lighter fell inside emergency brake compartment

Postby Prophet » Sat Aug 06, 2005 11:34 am

I know I know, I shouldn't smoke, let alone do it in the car..but I do, and I did, and now my cigarette lighter fell through the little rubber space at the base of the emergency brake....had the damn thing by two fingers, but was on the highway and had to, uh, concentrate.

Does anyone know if there is anything down there I need to worry about? It sounded like an empty space, as I could hear the lighter bounce off what sounded like plastic below.

Is there a prize for "stupid move of the year" on this forum....I think I may qualify with this one.

Thanks!

well, it's not that hard to take cover (?) off and take the lighter out.

first, open the armrest console and center console (the covered box below a/c)

next, put your finger in the hole behind the emergency brake (probably where your lighter went in...)
and pull the cover from the back side.

you will get whole center cover coming out, and you will find your lighter.

once you get the lighter out, put the cover back by push it in,

then.. finally enjoy your smoke again!

good luck

But yeah, also- IS there anything down there that's worth worrying about? I know I've got about half a bagel down there (in crumb-form), as well as probably 8 and a half bucks in change.

Check out the Gen2 Tutorials on the AuxBox install pics. You should see what's down there. Other than forming a colony of killer bacteria, nothing much to fret about. But it's easy to pop off. no tools, two minutes. Go get your lighter. (and the bagel)
