Throttle Lag TSB is out

Look near your door sill area where the tire size/pressure sticker is. There should be a sticker there I'm guessing. They put one on mine after they reflashed it.

Does everyone that had the TSB applied have that same sticker? If so... I think it's about time I go to a different dealership...

I'm even more convinced that they either:

1) Didn't flash my ECU at all, or

2) Screwed up while doing it...

My mileage has been horrible after going to the dealership... and I'm still lagging like crazy.


EDIT: Another question for those that work at a dealership... is it possible to pull up service information for a car that was not serviced at your location? IE by VIN number? How about for TSB's?

I'd imagine that if this was possible, someone could check my VIN for me?

I know they can see Recall info by VIN but not repair/service work. Not sure about TSB.

So after a month with the TSB applied (supposedly), I had the lag happen going 40. I mashed the gas pedal, and then let up, nothing happenned. I was able to put the pedal to the floor for over 1s and then release with zero tranny response.

My guess is that the service manager I talked to had my car taken back to the shop, washed, and returned to me unchanged. There is no sticker. They were very short on time that day and told me to come back the next day. I had an appointment so I said do it now. %^$^&%$

I'm taking it to another dealer making no indication that this was tried before. If they lied to me, uhoh uhoh uhoh uhoh

So... I've finally gotten around to READING the TSB... and part of the directions are to affix that sticker in a specific location. I will be going home to check on this tonight, and if that sticker is not at that exact location, I am causing HELL at the dealership.

It's such a pity, the Sales Team was great... I have had nothing but problems with the Service Team.

In a few posts here, it's been said it takes at least two hours to apply this fix. If your car wasn't being worked on that long, you can safely assume nothing was done.

I need to arrange another appointment to have the TSB applied. The dealer ran out of time when I had my car in two weeks ago and he (service manager) said the throttle lag TSB will take a fair part of the day to apply. Like slingshot said, if your car was not in the service bay for very long, it is safe to assume the TSB was not applied. At most, they probably reset the ECU.

I have a 04 V6 SLE, but I am out of the initial bumper-to-bumper warranty. Should the TSB be covered under the powertrain warranty?

Its covered under the Emissions Warranty according to the TSB, for 96 Months or 80,000 miles from your in-service date.

Anyone that has had the TSB applied, your help would be greatly appreciated. Do you all have the sticker under the hood? I called the service guy at my dealership and mentioned that the TSB required that sticker to be put on after the reprogramming. He's trying to tell me he doesn't know anything about applying a sticker after a TSB. I just want to get the facts/statistics straight before I confront him on Friday.

Checked with the Master Technician at the dealership. The TSB was done on my car (he showed me the softwar eversion, they just ran out of stickers. I still have the lag though. He stated (his words) that Toyota is DEFINITELY working on another fix since this one didn't cure every car.

I also got the bad news today on my '06 lag issue .... there is no issue with the '06 and nothing my dealer knows is being considered. Although, I just got my Toyota customer survey today .... I will certainly let them know in detail .... hopefully, others with the '06 V6 will do likewise ...

The service guy did tell me by phone that their "service tech regional guy" was interested in what my problem was. I made a date with the service mgr to have him onboard to experience my dreaded lag. (This ws all done by phone to save me time ... he was on the phone multiple times with his tech support; I don't think he was blowin smoke at me)

By the way, can you also duplicate this; at ~70 mph, I can give it a quick 3/4 pedal and it will hesitate/balk .... that's seems like air/fuel starvation ... the secondary airbox opening is slow in responding ..??

I have not driven at 70 mph for a long time but at 50+, my car behaves as it should as far as throttle response and I have not had the TSP applied yet. It is 45 mph or less that really has a lag problem.

Just picked my car up from the dealership. They flashed the ECM based on TC006-05. Only one word to describe it OUTSTANDING!!! Lag is absolutely and completely gone. I tested from stand still through various accelerartion conditions and mph points.

When I scheduled they didn't question me just noted the problem description. When I dropped it off the service tech made mention that he thought it was applicable to certain VINs. I told them it was appicable to all 3.3 2004, 2005. No questions were asked.

fyi...mine is a 2005 that I picked up in August 04. The entire process took just over a hour

You got that right slingshot! I can't believe the difference and really how bad the lag actually was until I got it fixed this morning. Completely changes the acceration characteristics of the 3.3 Solara! AWESOME!
