I have a 2005 solara convertible. I'm not the most savy car person so bear with me. I really like that deep throaty sound you hear from cars, kind of like you get in muscle cars. I don't want it to sound like a sewing machine you hear on some of the small imports. Any help?

The TRD muffler is pricy but offers a nice low growl (esp between 2k - 3k rpm). If you have a V6 it's going to sound deeper / throatier than if you have the 4 banger... If you are willing to go a bit further, have a good shop manufacture a custom 2.75" - 3" cat-back exhaust with a good quality muffler (this should only set you back a couple hundred extra over the TRD muffler...). It's not going to sound like an American V8 no matter what, but it will still sound pretty slick (and a whole lot better than stock).

I have the TRD exhaust and I really love it. It could be louder, but instead it has a classy deep tone.

The best bang for the buck, IMO , is to change the intake to the Injen Short Ram. (See the Gen2 tutorials) The induction noise at wide open throttle is fantastic.

Does anyone know if the TRD muffler for the 2004 solara will fit the 2005?

Yes, the 04 muff will fit all Gen 2 Solaras.

nope, I know someone named bob who owns an 05 lara convt. who basically wants to do the same thing to his lara that husker here is talking about, getting a deeper "muscle car" like sound by doing dual trd mufflers... but I have confirmed it's not the same guy...
