1) Turn the car off
2) Push the odometer button in to change it to show the total mileage. (Not trip)
3) Hold in this "button" and then turn the key to accessory or on.
4) keep holding it a few seconds till the odometer changes to all dashes "-----"
5) Your Maint light should go off.

This comes on every 5,000 miles (?) or so to remind you to get the oil changed. The owners manual details how to reset it.

This whole debate really depends on your driving. Can you go 5K with no problems? Yes.

The general rule of thumb is:

> Stop and go, aggressive or short distance driving should require more frequent oil changes.

> Long distance - normal RPM (highway) driving is less wear and tear so the oil can last longer.

When you get close to 3K miles, take a look at the oil condition on the dipstick. Dark black is contaminated / dirty so it's time to change.
